Variety reports that Rocksteady and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment are preparing a prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum that will feature the Justice League.
This is part of Warner Bros wanting to give the Justice League a bigger presence before attempting to make a movie.
The game will focus on Batman's first encounter with The Joker. It will be influenced by the 1950s "Silver Age" comic books of all the characters. There is no word on the game from Rocksteady, but the game could be released in early 2014.
Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill voiced Batman and the Joker in the previous games, but Hamill has said he will not return to play The Joker in a new game. Warner Bros first released Arkham Asylum in 2009, and it was followed by last year's Arkham City, which they heavily promoted at Comic-Con.
Arkham City sold two million copies worldwide in its first week and passed six million in the first month. To compare the two games, Arkham Asylum sold 4.3 million copies total.
Warner Bros wants to get the same success that Marvel and Disney had with The Avengers, which earned $1.5 billion worldwide this summer and earned even more money from toys and other licensed merchandise.
