WWE Raw house show results
July 22, 2012
Springfield, Mo. at JQH Arena
Report by Chad Plein, PWTorch reader

(1) Brodus Clay beat Jack Swagger. Good opening match. Funkadelics were in the house, and kids were in the ring. Good heat for Swagger, who tore up Sign Guy's sign.

Big Johnny promo - John Laurinaitis came over the video screens and said WWE is allowing him to be ringside for the main event of John Cena vs. Big Show in a cage.

(2) Tensai beat Tyson Kidd. Tyson looked good in the ring; pretty nice pop.

(3) Leakee beat Curt Hawkins. Before the match, Hawkins grabbed the mic and said he made Hall of Famers what they were (Edge) and he doesn't need to wrestle rookies nobody has heard of. Leakee ("Joe" Anoa'i ) grabbed the mic for a cheap pop saying he was glad to be in Springfield. Leakee looked good in the ring, winning with a Samoan drop.

AW promo - AW talked about the Prime Time Players walking out tonight with the Tag Team titles.

(4) Dolph Ziggler beat Zack Ryder. Ziggler's antics brought out a lot of boos. There were some close pins and both guys worked really well.

Big Johnny poll - Justin Roberts said WWE wants the Universe to decide if John Laurinaitis should be at ringside for the main event. Text your response; find out later in the night.

(5) WWE tag champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth beat Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young w/AW) to retain the WWE Tag Titles. A lot of mic work off the top with AW and Truth. Lil' Jimmy eventually got slapped by Titus and the match started. PTP doubled-team a tired Truth until he finally made the hot tag to Kofi. Huge pop with Kofi in the ring. Eventually, D-Young pinned Kofi, who put his foot on the bottom rope at "three," but AW swiped it away without the ref John Cone seeing it. They announced new tag champs, their music played, and the belts were handed to PTP. Then, Charles Robinson came down telling Cone what AW did, and the match was re-started. Kofi and Truth with the quick pins to retain the titles.

(6) Divas champion Layla beat Beth Phoenix to retain the Divas Title. Both women worked well; Layla had a few very athletic/original moves. Layla won with a roll-up counter to Beth's finisher.

(7) U.S. champion Santino beat The Miz to retain the U.S. Title. Miz got a lot of heat from the crowd with some great mic work. Santino with a nice pop. There was a funny moment as Santino appeared to have a charlie-horse on his knee; he walked it off as only Santino could. The Cobra then came out and Santino got the win.

(8) John Cena beat Big Show in a steel cage match. Cena came out first; biggest pop of night followed by Show. Just before getting started, Big Johnny comes down to ring. At this point, Justin Roberts announced that the Universe has spoken, and he is banned from ringside. Laurinaitis and Show beat up on Cena before Big Johnny went to the back. Good match, great action, back and forth, and told a great story. There were near-escapes, then Cena connected with an AA for the pin.

Post-match, Laurinaitis came to the ring with a chair and hit Cena once in the gut. Then, John speared Laurinaitis and gave Big Johnny an AA. Big pop; show over. All in all, a great show.

Biggest Pops:
- Cena
- Kofi & Truth
- Ryder
- Triple H (he appeared on the video screen for a Raw 1,000 moment)

Top Heels:
- Ziggler
- The Miz
- Laurinaitis
- Big Show
- Swagger

Again I say, Abraham Washington is brilliant. Very entertaining. Although Titus O'Neil has like no in-ring talent, so.. Ha, maybe give Darren Young another partner and they'll be able to win the titles for real.
