According to Pwinsider.com, Tokyo Sport is reporting that WWE and All Japan Pro Wrestling have forged an alliance and will be working together. John Laurinaitis reportedly helped put the deal together.

Laurinaitis worked for AJPW from 1988 through 2000, teaming with Kenta Kobashi, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Bart Gunn during his tenure with the promotion. Laurinaitis was a two-time AJPW All Asia Tag Team Champion, a four-time AJPW Unified World Tag Team Champion, and the winner of the New Year's Heavyweight Battle Royal on January 2, 1991 at Korakuen Hall.

More details as they come…

That is really interesting.

Maybe some men and women can come over to WWE?

At least I would like to see some of them come on over here, especially some of the Japanese women who could help the division if used properly...

Update:

We noted yesterday how word came from Japan that WWE is partnering up with All Japan Pro Wrestling. This comes after WWE's recent tour of Japan where several promotion heads pitched ideas to WWE officials about establishing developmental territories there.

In an update, word is that All Japan's Kaz Hayashi and another official had dinner with WWE's John Laurinaitis while WWE was in Japan earlier this year. AJPW talked with Laurinaitis about them being a developmental territory for WWE. Apparently that's what the new partnership is. For what it's worth, the impression was given to Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer that there's "nothing major" to the deal.

Another update:

We noted before that WWE has apparently agreed to partner with All Japan Pro Wrestling, a deal that John Laurinaitis helped put together. Early reports indicated that AJPW may be a new developmental territory for WWE.

New reports coming out of Japan suggest that WWE and AJPW may be doing a talent exchange, most likely for the proposed cruiserweight show on the WWE Network. This doesn't mean that the possibility of a developmental territory in Japan is ruled out but the talent exchange is more likely.

The newspaper Tokyo Sports featured an image of Laurinaitis with AJPW President Masayuki Uchida. Apparently Laurinaitis has met with AJPW officials one other time this year besides the reported meeting in August when WWE was on tour in Japan.

There are also rumblings of some kind of talent exchange where Big Show may be sent to make an appearance for AJPW in exchange for a WWE appearance by The Great Muta. That report is not confirmed but we hope to have more solid details on the WWE-AJPW partnership soon.
