| Subject: Update on Punk vs Austin & Punk vs Undertaker? Thu 11 Oct 2012, 1:26 pm | |
| For what it's worth, there are people within WWE who feel that a match between CM Punk vs. Steve Austin match will never take place. That includes WrestleMania 30 and beyond. Austin is currently recovering from a major knee surgery and his body is still banged up from years of in-ring abuse. He's also 47 years old and has neck issues. He isn't ruling out another match but many are skeptical. All of the recent references to Steve Austin by CM Punk are strictly to hype the WWE '13 video game. According to sources, the CM Punk "respect" storyline is based around a future match with The Undertaker. This is expected to be a major angle at some point in 2013. | |

| Whilst I wouldn't object to Punk vs Austin and think it would be a great match, even is Austin is not ever going to be 100%, I can't see any reason beyond Straightedge vs Drunk.
Punk vs Undertaker, especially on the topic of respect, would be a great match-up. Although, at this time, I'd say Punk should win. Which would mean no Wrestlemania match, as Undertaker will always win at Wrestlemania. Unless they did something like have a very dirty finish and then have Vince restart the match, which Undertaker would then win. It would keep the Streak intact and Punk would have technically won. Dirty finish being outside interference from Paul Heyman would be the best way to do it. And set up a face turn for Punk too. | |
