"Modern Family" leads all TV programs with four nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The ABC comedy, which has won Best Comedy Ensemble in the last two years, will defend that title, and also received individual acting bids for Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, and Sofia Vergara.
Following close behind, six programs are tied with three nominations apiece: "Boardwalk Empire," "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," "Game Change," "Homeland," and "30 Rock."
The three nominations for "Homeland" -- Drama Ensemble, Drama Actor (Damian Lewis), and Drama Actress (Claire Danes) -- come after the Showtime spy drama was surprisingly snubbed by SAG last year. It recently won the Emmy for Best Drama, and before that it prevailed at the Golden Globes.
It competes for Best Drama Ensemble against returning contenders "Mad Men" and "Boardwalk Empire," which have both won the award twice. "Breaking Bad" returns to the race for the second year in a row, while "Downton Abbey" enters the drama field for the first time.
"Downton Abbey" stars Michelle Dockery and Maggie Smith are also nominated. Smith is the most nominated actor overall this year; her individual and ensemble nominations for "Downton" as well as for the film "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" earn her four nominations.
For Best Comedy Ensemble, "Modern Family" will face previous winners "30 Rock," "Glee," and "The Office," as well as "The Big Bang Theory" and surprise nominee "Nurse Jackie," which contends in the category for the first time.
But where "Homeland" was snubbed last year, this year two debuting comedies got the cold shoulder: HBO's "Veep" and "Girls," which were both nominated for Comedy Series at the Emmys, were left out by SAG, as were their respective stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lena Dunham.

"Game Change" leads all movie/miniseries nominees. Three of its actors earned nominations: Ed Harris, Woody Harrelson, and recent Emmy-winner Julianne Moore. "Hemingway and Gellhorn" and "Hatfields and McCoys" earned a pair of acting nomination each. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the bid for Charlotte Rampling, from the Sundance Channel's miniseries "Restless" (left).
Though the SAG Awards for film have historically been a strong predictor of the Oscars, their TV awards do not show a similar overlap with the Emmys, as evidenced this year by the snubs of both of this year's Emmy winners for lead comedy acting, Louis-Dreyfus and Jon Cryer ("Two and a Half Men").
The awards will be handed out live on Sunday, January 27, on TNT and TBS.
