WWE Raw house show results December 26, 2012 Detroit, Mich. Report by Jeremy Hatfield, PWTorch correspondent
-The building seemed pretty packed for a live event. Vickie Guerrero opened the show mostly just to tell the crowd about the night's main event and complain about Dolph and A.J. She he wasn't booed as loudly she has been in the past.
(1) WWE tag champions Team Hell No & Ryback beat The Shield in a six-man tag match to kick off the show. It was advertised to be in a steel cage, but it was a standard six-man tag match. Daniel Bryan came out first, and The Shield attacked from the crowd before Kane came out. Ryback was extremely over with the crowd; lots of "Feed Me More" chants thoughout the match. I didn't hear a single Goldberg chant at all. Ryback and Team Hell No won when Shield attacked Ryback with a chair, but they made their comeback and the faces hit their finishers and cleared Shield out of the ring.
-Justin Roberts announced Zack Ryder vs. Tensai for later, and the crowd was asked to vote which song the loser would have to sing after the match. The choices were Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer or Jingle Bells.
(2) Brodus Clay defeated JTG in a typical squash match.
After the match, Jack Swagger came out and cut a heel promo saying Clay couldn't do that again, and challenged Clay to a match. Before they started, Swagger said he was just kidding, and wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, then Swagger offered Clay a handshake. When he wouldn't let go, they started dancing with each other. Clay spun Jack around, and when Clay went to spin around, Swagger punched him.
(3) Brodus Clay beat Jack Swagger. They fought for a few seconds, but eventually Clay got the upper hand and afterwards danced with the Funkadactyls and some kids.
(4) Divas champion Eve beat Kaitlyn to retain the Divas Title in a somewhat decent Divas match.
-The Rhodes Scholars came out and cut a typical Rhodes Scholars promo. Sandow asked the entire crowd three questions. (1) What holiday did we just celebrate the day before? (2) What color is Santa's suit? And, (3) Who is the greatest tag team in WWE History? Then the New Age Outlaws's music hit, the crowd loved it, and they did their opening. When Billy Gunn had the mic, he said he would try and remember his part, and did an impersonation of The Rock and Stone Cold before getting his part right. It was pretty funny.
(5) New Age Outlaws beat Rhodes Scholars. Then they had good back and forth match, and the NAO hit all their classic notes. Then, Billy Gunn got the pin on Cody after reversing Cross Rhodes into a Fame-Ass-Er. It was really good to see the NAO back together in a WWE ring.
(6) Santino defeated David Otunga with the Cobra in a fun match. Santino was pretty over with the crowd during his offense.
(7) Zack Ryder defeated Tensai in a pretty short match. Tensai had to sing Rudolph - he started by telling the crowd he's Jewish and to shut up when they called him Albert. He eventually started singing, and it was good for a few laughs.
(8) The Usos defeated the Prime Time Players with a double splash in a decent match. Both teams looked really good.
(9) U.S. champion Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz went to a double count-out; Cesaro retained the U.S. Title. The match started with Cesaro cutting an anti-America/Detroit promo; Miz got the cheap pops praising Detroit, and telling Cesaro to go back where he came from. "USA" chants were some of the loudest of the night. After the count-out, they got back in the ring. Cesaro went for the Neutralizer, but Miz countered with Skullcrushing Finale.
-Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena was announced to be in the steel cage match earlier in the night. The ring crew went to set up the cage, but for some reason they couldn't figure it out. So, Ziggler came out with A.J. and Big E. Langston and taunted the ring crew about being able to build a cage as well as Detroit builds cars. When they still couldn't get the cage set up, Dolph claimed to be too good to deal with them and was leaving, but Vickie came back out and scrapped the cage match. She announced a Street Fight instead, and banned A.J. and Big E. from ringside. John Cena then came out to the loudest pop of the night.
(10) John Cena beat Dolph Ziggler in a Street Fight. The crowd was very pro-Cena, aside from a "Let's Go Cena / Cena Sucks" chant early on in the match, and the crowd was hot for Cena throughout the entire match. Eventually, Cena went for the AA and Ziggler got out, resulting in a ref bump. While the ref was down, A.J. and Big E. Langston came back out. Langston hit his finisher on Cena, but Cena kicked out. Big E. held Cena up for a superkick, but Ziggler hit Langston instead. A.J. threw a fit, then smacked Cena, but Cena grabbed her and kissed her before hitting the AA on Ziggler for the win. It was definitely match of the night.
-Justin Roberts thanked the crowd for coming, and announced Smackdown returning to Detroit on April 30.
