WWE Raw house show results January 12, 2013 Laredo, Tex. Report by Dylon Wells, PWTorch correspondent
Very few empty seats at the Laredo Energy Arena.
C.M. Punk came out with a "doctor's note" saying his meniscus is in worse condition after his TLC match with Ryback on Raw. Dolph Ziggler then came out with a flu mask, saying he has the flu and can't compete against Cena. Vickie Guerrero then came out to announce that since they can't compete in "singles" action, tonight's main event will be C.M. Punk and Dolph Ziggler vs. Ryback and John Cena!
(1) Brodus Clay defeated Jack Swagger at 5:27. An okay start to the show. Some nice comedy spots made the match all right. Brodus got the crowd to call Jack a "Funky Chicken." (3/4*)
(2) Zack Ryder defeated Leo Kruger at 6:43. 95 percent of the crowd absolutely did not know who Kruger is. Even a promo did not help. The match was pretty decent, though. (*)
Vickie Guerrero came out again and announced there will be a United States Title match between Antonio Cesaro and The Miz in a "Fan's Choice" match. The choices were (a) 2/3 Falls or (b) Street Fight.
(3) Jamie Noble defeated Tensai at 6:50. Once again, 95 percent of the crowd did not remember who Noble is. He looks in good shape a got in a few good comedy spots here and there. (*1/2)
(4) WWE tag champions Team Hell No defeated The Shield (Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns) via DQ at 8:56 to retain the Tag Titles. Seth Rollins caused the DQ. Nice back and forth tag team action. Seth came in after Kane chokeslammed Ambrose. Ryback then made the save and eliminated The Shield from the ring. (*3/4)
[Intermission]
(5) Kaitlyn defeated Tamina Snuka at 6:34. Some good Divas action with a few hard-hitting moves. (*)
The results of "Fan's Choice" poll was nearly unanimous - 91 percent for Street Fight and 9 percent for 2/3 Falls.
(6) U.S. champion Antonio Cesaro defeated The Miz in a Street Fight in 17:53 to retain United States Title. Excellent match with the use of chairs, a kendo stick, a table, and even the exposed turnbuckle pad. Very convincing nearfalls as well. (***)
(7) John Cena & Ryback defeated WWE champion C.M. Punk & Dolph Ziggler (w/A.J. Lee and Big E. Langston) at 16:04. A good tag match to send the crowd home happy. Decent action as usual from these four. (**1/2)
Overall, a very good Raw show with a very enjoyable amount of hard-hitting, comedy, and thrilling action!
Biggest Pops: (1) John Cena (the place exploded!) (2) Ryback (3) Brodus Clay (4) Zack Ryder (5) Team Hell No
Most Heat: (1) Antonio Cesaro (surprisingly) (2) Dolph Ziggler (3) C.M. Punk (4) Vickie Guerrero (at the beginning) (5) Tensai
