Nearly eight months after TNA filed a lawsuit against WWE and former TNA employee Brian Wittenstein, TNA voluntarily dropped the suit this week.
The indirect result is it officially frees up Ric Flair, who was named in the suit. Flair is a free agent working on a per-night deal with WWE, and is scheduled for a tour of Japan later this month.
According to Nashville (Tenn.) Chancery court records, TNA gave notice to dismiss the suit on Monday, January 14.
After reviewing the proposal, the court issued an order on Tuesday, Jan. 15 granting TNA's notice to voluntarily dismiss the suit.
The official record shows the court granting "Plaintiff's (TNA's) Notice of Voluntary Nonsuit," which essentially means the judge has agreed to throw out the suit without ruling on the merits of TNA's case.
The record does not indicate whether the lawsuit was dropped with or without prejudice, though. If it's with prejudice, then TNA cannot re-file again, and the case is closed. If without prejudice, then TNA can re-file in the future.

- TNA's lawsuit with WWE is officially done as it was dismissed in court on Wednesday. TNA filed a motion this week stating that all sides had come to terms and agreed that they would withdraw the lawsuit. Each side covered their own legal costs. | |
