This week, we heard the exciting news that Peter Dinklage (Game Of Thrones, Elf) has joined the impressive ensemble cast of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past in a key role. The next day, it was reported that the actor will be playing the sequel's main villain. Now, an anonymous source for MTV Geek reveals who exactly he's playing: Boliver Trask, inventor of the Sentinels. This would make sense, due to the Sentinels' inclusion in the film is all but confirmed. "First introduced in Uncanny X-Men #14 in 1965, the character was an inventor and anthropologist who was threatened by the increasing number of mutants popping up in society. So naturally, he did what any anthropologist would do, and created gigantic robots called Sentinels to protect humans and hunt down mutants. Trask eventually finds out that the X-Men aren't so bad and ends up sacrificing his own life to save the X-Men," says the site.
However, they do ask to take this report with a grain of salt, as it's possible that the source is inaccurate. Plus, Trask was already featured in the X-Men film universe in 2006's The Last Stand, where he was portrayed by Bill Duke (who looks very different from Dinklage, to say the least). Still, stay tuned to CBM for more news on the film as we have it.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore. The film is set to hit theaters July 18th, 2014.
