Before returning to the ring in October of last year, Knox had retired from in-ring competition in 2008 after no showing a SHIMMER event. Her reason for not attending was that she did not feel that wrestling was the right career choice for her. Looks like her change of heart was the right decision.

Talking of her WWE deal, The Herald quotes Rebecca as saying: ”I want to make the most of this opportunity. Sheamus has shown that Irish pro-wrestlers can go all the way to the top.”

The 26-year-old from Dublin was last prominently seen in SHIMMER in 2011, managing the team of Britani and Saraya Knight from volumes 37-40. It will certainly be interesting to see if her and Britani – aka NXT’s Paige – will reunite.

The news comes just days after an NXT Women’s Championship belt was unveiled at WWE Axcess.

This is incredible! Rebecca Knox is one of the most talented women to step into the ring in a LONG time. She would have already been signed if it wasn't for the career halting injury she suffered several years ago.

I Wonder if there gonna keep her name or change it there most likely gonna change it to something stupid like Jenna.Maybe They can call her LaTesha Knox??

I don't know much about her but I'm looking forward to seeing her in NXT/WWE.

WWE Superstar and fellow Irish wrestler Sheamus has tweeted his support for new signee Rebecca Knox, giving NXT Diva Paige some props along the way.

News on Knox’s signing broke recently thanks to an interview she gave to Irish newspaper The Herald. In the interview, she that claimed the success of Sheamus has inspired her as an Irish wrestler.

The former WWE Champion tweeted:

"Massive Congrats 2 @RebeccaMQuin who just signed with the WWE. Really looking forward to seeing her & @RealPaigeWWE tear it up in a WWE ring!"

Knox returned the ring after a four year absence last October.

She and Paige have actually crossed paths before, back when Knox returned to SHIMMER in 2011 in a managerial role. Alongside Saraya Knight, the three made for a terrifying trio.

But in all seriousness it's great that WWE have signed someone so talented. It might be a while before she's actually on TV since she only returned to wrestling back in October and hasn't actually wrestled since January. She'll need to spend a couple of months in developmental to properly get back into ring shape
