TV Rating For 2013 Hall of Fame Special Underwhelms WWEHOF_22

USA Network's airing of the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Tuesday, April 9 scored a 1.23 rating and averaged 1.629 million viewers.

The rating and viewership is the lowest of the last five years, which includes some Saturday night tape-delayed airings.

Last year, the HOF special drew a 1.86 rating and averaged 2.659 million viewers, but was slotted at 8:00 p.m. EST as the lead-in to the post-Mania Raw.

USA slotted this year's Hall of Fame the night after the Raw following WrestleMania, yet Monday night on Raw, WWE did little to promote the special.

On cable TV Tuesday night, the HOF special ranked #27 in overall viewers, #21 in males 18-34, and #20 in males 18-49. Comparatively, a "Law & Order: SVU" re-run that ran in the timeslot last Tuesday averaged 1.952 million viewers, but the HOF special was up 30 percent in adult make demos, essentially making it a wash for USA Network.

Caldwell's Analysis: Likely factors contributing to an underwhelming rating - lack of promotion on Raw, WWE's audience being habitual viewers who seek out appointment television, the audience being worn out from a four-hour WrestleMania and three-hour Raw, and WWE not connecting Hall of Fame headliner Bruno Sammartino to today's audience.
