WWE Smackdown TV taping report June 11, 2013 Greensboro, N.C. Report by PWTorch senior columnist Bruce Mitchell & PWTorch correspondent Jim H.
Main Event Spoilers 6/12/13
Josh Mathews and Wade Barrett were on commentary this week.
After crazy loud pyro, The Miz came out to face Cody Rhodes. First, Miz stared down IC champ Barrett at the commentary table ahead of their IC Title match at the PPV.
(1) The Miz beat Cody Rhodes via submission in a 15-minute match. Decent-enough match, but the outcome was never in doubt. Miz sold a wrist injury during the match. For the finish, Miz beat Cody with the figure-four in Flair Country, just like Monday night on Raw. The trunks curse continues.
A video aired hyping C.M. Punk return match against Chris Jericho at Payback.
Damien Sandow cut a promo about how he is physically ill at all of the audience and has set the bar too high, so he will speak slower and use simpler words that everyone can all understand. Sandow vowed to beat up Sheamus very badly at Payback Kickoff.
(2) Damien Sandow beat Sin Cara at 6:15. Sandow used his finisher, The Silencer, for the win. The match took place with the Sin Cara mood lighting, of note. Cara had early offense with no noticeable botches, then Sandow took control, Cara made a comeback, and Cara missed a Swanton to set up Sandow's victory.
The crowd has been fairly hot so far and solidly behind the babyfaces thus far.
(3) The Usos beat Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay & Tensai) at 5:20. Usos won with a Superfly Splash. Prior to the finish, the match started with the so-called Funkasaurus opening things up with some jiggling. Then, an Uso did some moon-walking. Funkasaurus countered with some dancing. Then, they got serious and traded some chops. Sweet T came in for some moves (of both the wrestling and dancing variety). Funkasaurus missed some elbows, but hit a headbutt and a T-Bone suplex. Then, a big splash, but the other Uso broke up the count. Samoan drop on Tensai. Clay missed a splash in the corner. Double dropkick and a splash off the top rope gave the Usos the win.
The Usos did some post-match dancing to conclude the Main Event episode. | |
