As we exclusively noted yesterday here on the website, Bray Wyatt suffered some sort of arm injury at the WWE NXT tapings last Thursday night in Winter Park, FL. According to our sources, here is what we know regarding the injury.
The Wyatt's worked three matches at the NXT tapings on Thursday night. During the second taping, The Wyatt Family defeated Adrian Neville, Corey Graves, and William Regal. Neville played face in peril for quite a long time. The finish saw Bray getting the pin. Everything was fine with Bray during that match.
During the third episode, Neville and Corey Graves defeated The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) to win the NXT tag-team titles as they needed to get the belts off the Wyatt Family due to the fact that they're headed to the main roster. Bray Wyatt was at ringside during the match. The match seemed like it was going to be a paint by numbers tag with Bray interfering, but then Sheamus's music hit. Sheamus came down and took out Bray. While that was happening on the outside, Neville hit a corkscrew and new champions were crowned. Sheamus celebrated in the ring with the new champions as Bray laid on the ground after being taken out by Sheamus moments earlier as we noted. The arm injury to Bray appeared to happen when Sheamus hit the ring and took him out.
Immediately following the crowning of the new tag-team champions, it was announced that because of what just happened, we would be seeing Bray Wyatt vs. Sheamus later in the evening. At this point, they were not aware of Bray's arm injury so they promoted the match as scheduled.
Following the match, we're told Bray was seen backstage holding his arm and was in pain. As a precautionary measure, the decision was made to change the advertised dark match main event from Bray Wyatt vs. Sheamus to Luke Harper vs. Sheamus. Harper is a member of The Wyatt Family so it made sense to use him as a substitute.
With that being said, all three members of The Wyatt Family worked weekend WWE live events. During the shows, The Wyatt's laid out ring announcer Justin Roberts early in the show. Later in the show, Bray Wyatt came out to wrestle Alex Riley. Due to the arm injury he suffered at the NXT tapings on Thursday night, WWE did an angle where Bray said he'd only wrestle Alex Riley if he could beat Wyatt Family member Luke Harper first. Of course, Harper ended up beating Riley with a clothesline so Bray never had to wrestle. Again, this was done as a precautionary measure.
According to our sources, the Bray Wyatt arm injury is NOT that serious. Bray has simply been kept out of in-ring competition as the company doesn't want to re-aggravate the injury as they are scheduled to be called up to the main roster, possibly as early as tomorrow night's RAW. Wyatt is not expected to miss much in-ring time.
We'll keep you posted as we hear more.
