Breaking News: Tara & TNA Part Ways

TNA just announced that they have released Tara. Here is the official statement from ImpactWrestling.com:

IMPACT Wrestling has released Tara. We thank Tara for all her contributions and wish her the best of success in the future.

In recent months, Tara had talked about not being on TV in the future, only to reappear so this isn't a big surprise.

More as we get it.

They have 4 KOs that that they actually use in the ring on Impact:

Mickie, Gail, Velvet, and Taryn.

ODB only wrestles on Xplosion and I have NO idea where Tessmacher is.

The situations surrounding the departures of Tara and Doc were each a completely different series of circumstances, according to TNA sources.

While Tara was a release planned by TNA as a cost-cutting move, sources indicate that the company lost Doc because his contract negotiations went on too long and finally his deal expired. He had been figured into creative plans going forward with an eventual babyface turn, something that had been teased.

The blame on Doc's exit was placed on Bruce Prichard, head of Creative and Talent Relations, by some. There have been several different sources this evening that contacted PWInsider, claiming that there have been multiple examples of contract negotiations going down to the wire or resulting in talents exiting this year under Prichard's regime.

It should be noted that is it entirely possible the two sides could still come to terms of a new deal (as happened with Devon in the past), but as of now, Doc is gone and free to go anywhere he pleases.

In the case of Tara, sources claim she was far and away the highest paid female wrestler on the roster and the decision was made to instead shift that money elsewhere.

Honestly it was only a matter of time, I saw it coming, not because she was off tv, but she was reaching up there in age, they could only do so much with her, she was knockouts champ for so many times. I've said it before, the knockouts division needs a cleaning out, all the knockouts with exception of Taryn has held the knockouts title, it's time to let some people go and Tara was on my list of people, now with that paycheck they could maybe hire two workers on a Madison Rayne paycheck as in super cheap and probably who lives nearby.

Not shocked, not hurt or dissapointed, the knockouts division needs a freshing up, they brought in Taryn, now time to bring in a few more fresh new faces to the division and get rid of some of the dead weight.

I completely agree with Kevin. While it sucks that she is gone, it makes sense from a financial point of view. From WWE, she had to have been making some decent money. TNA could easily pick up two or three local women on a lower end pay check. If they would drop the clause about not being able to appear on DVDs for other promotions, they could do well with the local girls. Brittany Savage, Santana, Leva Bates, Kimberly, Serena, etc could all work the TNA tapings regularly.

TNA needs to do what made them big in the first place. Use an established name (in this case, Taryn/Gail/Mickie) as the Gail when the knockouts begun. Bring in some new people like TNA did in the beginning and start over with fresh faces.

Honestly not upset. Although I'd love her on TV, Tara has done it all and won five knockouts championships.

I feel like ODB is next. Back in the day the KOs all had different looks, but nowadays she stands out like a sore thumb. She also doesn't have the benefit of being a former WWE Diva. The only thing saving her is that TNA probably signed her cheap.
