Emmys Darling Connie Britton: 3 Years, 3 Series, 3 Emmy Nominations

Defying our predictions, Connie Britton earned an Emmy bid for "Nashville." That makes it three years in a row that she's garnered a nomination for a different TV show.

Will Britton's third leading role be the charm at the Emmys?

This year's bid for Britton comes in the Drama Actress category for ABC's freshman series set in the suprisingly cutthroat country music scene. Earlier this year, she contended for her role as music queen Rayna Jaymes at the Golden Globes but lost out to Claire Danes ("Homeland").

According to our early Emmy predictions, Danes is set to take home her second consecutive Emmy for "Homeland," but we'll have a much better grasp on this category once the actresses submit their individual episode to judges for consideration.

Last year, Britton rode the "American Horror Story" wave and reaped a bid in the Movie/Mini Actress race for playing Vivien Harmon. However, she could not overcome the Julianne Moore juggernaut, who romped to victory for her portrayal of Sarah Palin for the HBO miniseries "Game Change."

In 2010 and 2011, Britton was nominated for the final two seasons of "Friday Night Lights" for her work as fan favorite coach's wife Tami Taylor. While she failed to secure victories (losing to Kyra Sedgwick from "The Closer" and Julianna Margulies for "The Good Wife," respectively), her co-star Kyle Chandler pulled off a shock win in 2011 for Drama Actor for the football series' swan song.

Earning nominations for multiple series isn't a rarity at the Emmys. Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Seinfeld," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Veep"), Edie Falco ("The Sopranos," "30 Rock," "Nurse Jackie") and Mandy Patinkin ("Chicago Hope," "The Larry Sanders Show," "Homeland") all earned Emmy noms for a trio of shows across various categories and years.

And Kathy Bates ("Misery") was nominated three years in a row for separate projects: Movie/Mini Supporting Actress for "Alice" (2010), Drama Lead Actress for "Harry's Law" (2011-2012) and Comedy Guest Actress for "Two and a Half Men" (2012). She won the last of those, finally adding an Emmy to the Oscar she won in 1990 for "Misery."

However, reaping three consecutive Lead Actress nominations for different series regular roles in as many years is something for the record books. Now if only Britton can finally win one of these things!

Although I don't think she'll win, it would be cool.

I also don't think she has a shot to win but this is great to get another nomination and from a third show is really good.
