Quick topic to discuss.

I've noticed a pattern. Divas who work their way up and have great careers that always seem like towards the end are given up on.

For example, Melina and Victoria. Being jobbers, Victoria longer than Melina but Melina switched to that whole goth gimmick and it just wasn't working.

Basically Layla is the new Melina/Victoria. Thoughts?

When was Melina was a goth? also i wouldnt say Layla had a great career considering she was in Michelle McCools shadow for most of it.

Layla really hasn't jobbed out yet she lost one match so far as a heel but I really don't expect Layla to do that much at all as a heel.

Much like Dead said a majority of her time at top was spent in the shadow.

Injuries really ruined any hope she had of getting over.'

Normally that is what the Vet job is to do when your at the end of your career it's to put over new talent for the title,division,and company can continue forward when your gone and look strong.

Moving past that, I just noticed that pattern.

I think a lot has to do with the shelf life of the Divas, as most of the time, divas are way past the twilight of their career by their early 30s. Two of the biggest Divas of all time, Lita and Trish, were both retired by 30 or 31.

Melina didn't start her WWE run until her mid to late 20s, while Layla didn't start until her late 20s. So during their runs, they were either competing with better known divas who were on the downsides of their career, or up and coming divas who have a much longer shelf life.

Layla still competing at 36 is quite the anomaly, but yeah, I'd guess she's going to be used as a welcome mat for the newer divas until she chooses to retire. That's just the way female wrestling works.

I disagree. Up until her heel turn she was winning quite often. Her loss last week was her first in a while. Though her heel turn has already been a huge fail, mainly because she was a zillion times better as a face. She proved in her rematch feud with Eve that she could play the fiery babyface, shame on WWE for not capitalising on that with AJ

I don't think she is in Victoria mode. No doubt she won't do anything big in the rest of her career but at the moment she is still being seen as a diva that can win matches....compared to Jillian or Victoria, when you heard there music you would know instantly that their opponents would win, we aren't at that stage with layla yet, so no I dont think 'jobber' is the correct term she's more like natalya was up until she joined total divas that is
