'Breaking Bad' Takes First Emmy For Best Drama Series

"Breaking Bad" finally broke out of the pack to take its first Best Drama Series at the 65th annual Emmy Awards ceremony Sunday night. The trophy is for its penultimate season, which aired in late summer of 2012. Its final episodes are airing now on AMC, and those will be eligible at the 2014 Emmys.

The program about a cancer-stricken former science teacher (Bryan Cranston) who starts manufacturing meth had won previous acting awards but never the top prize. It joins "The Sopranos" (2004) and "24" (2006) in a long wait before prevailing for a fifth season at the Emmys.

This marks the second time in Emmy history that no broadcast programs were nominated as Best Drama Series. "Breaking Bad" defeated "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," 2012 champ "Homeland," "House of Cards," and four-time winner "Mad Men."

I love this show. I don't really watch too much tv or get into tv shows but I ended up watching it on Netflix got caught up & now that it's ending with 1 last episode I'm gonna have to find a new show or wait for The Walking Dead.

I am glad they won!! looking forward to seeing the final episode.
