http://www.ifc.com/fix/2013/08/10-movies-that-almost-killed-careers

Everyone makes mistakes. But some mistakes are catastrophe—especially in the movie world, where you’re only as good as your last picture. We’ve compiled a list of flops, duds and misfires that we love. Here are 10 nearly career-killing movies.

1. Battlefield Earth

John Travolta’s love letter to Scientology cast a shadow not only on the actor but his whole religion as well. It’s a great comedy, though.

2. Catwoman

Without the reliable safety net provided by the X-Men franchise, this abysmal comic book foray might have finished Halle Berry off completely.

3. Gigli

A film so bad that most people skipped it altogether and therefore have no idea how bad it actually is. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez barely survived.

4. The Postman

If Waterworld put Kevin Costner’s career on the ropes, The Postman was the knock out punch. Luckily, Dad roles and westerns helped keep the actor afloat.

5. Cruising

Unsurprisingly, audiences in 1980 were not compelled to follow Al Pacino on his romp through New York’s gay underworld. Now the film’s a bone fide cult classic. Progress.

6. I’m Still Here

Joaquin Phoenix’s alienating performance art piece was totally fake, but the actor’s obnoxious behavior almost had real world consequences. Thankfully, The Master heals all wounds.

7. Green Lantern

Almost no one came away happy from this ill-conceived superhero film. Yet somehow Ryan Reynolds remains free to make additional flops, such as this summer’s R.I.P.D.

8. The Adventures of Pluto Nash

Eddie Murphy has endured a long line of flops in recent years, but this is perhaps his most notorious. Nevertheless, Beverly Hills Cop 4 is still on the way.

9. Batman & Robin

This awful Bat-Film pretty much ended the rise of Chris O’Donnell and Alicia Silverstone’s careers, a bullet George Clooney somehow managed to dodge.

10. The Chronicles of Riddick

Vin Diesel had a hard time coming back from this big budget vanity project. His return to the Fast and Furious franchise saved him, but it was a close call.

I have seen six of these movies.

I don't think Green Latern or Chronicles of Riddick were that bad of movies.

All the old batman movies before dark knight should be on there.Catwoman was horrible the storyline was dumb and the fact that it wasn't Selina Kyle and it was some other women was horrible why could she just fight poison ivy or Harley Quinn.
