It should come as no surprise that Capcom has another Resident Evil in production, but if a costume designer’s LinkedIn resume is correct, work began on the game as early as last year.
The online resume of a former employee of the motion capture studio House of Moves — which has games like Halo: Reach, God of War III and Dead Space 2 in its portfolio — says the costume designer worked on Resident Evil 7 for a period of three months, from November 2012 to January 2013. More after the jump.
While a post on a designer’s LinkedIn page is hardly confirmation of a Resident Evil 7, which Capcom has yet to officially announce, we already know they’re at least planning it. After the lukewarm reception of Resident Evil 6 — which we liked — the next entry is supposed to be another reboot that will bring the franchise closer to its roots in survival horror.
Capcom wasn’t happy with the critical or commercial reception Resident Evil 6 received,. It’s Metacritic average ranges from 68-74 and sold 4.9 million copies, down from their 7 million target. I sincerely hope that’s enough to motivate them to turn things around and take the cries of their many remaining fans into account with Resident Evil 7.
