Yesterday, Bryan Singer and the cast of hotly anticipated prequel-sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past teamed up with Empire to show off all the characters in the film’s crowded ensemble. The daylong reveal concluded with the first-ever official look at the Sentinel of Past‘s future, which is definitely not to be confused with the Sentinel of Future‘s past. The Future Sentinel looks darker, scarier, and generally more modern than before. Check it out below:
EW.com Photo Editor Jef Castro noted that the Future Sentinel bears a resemblance to Nimrod, a character from the comic books who was an Uber-Sentinel from the Future Past future who came back to the present to chase the daughter of Cyclops and Phoenix. Personally, I think he looks more like the Phalanx, a race of cyborgs who tried to conquer the Earth, and actually succeeded in a different alternate future. But we’re both a couple of nerds, so ignore us. By way of comparison, here is a picture of the Sentinel who stands guard outside my office, wearing some cool 3D specs cuz the future is now:
Curiously, the reveal also included a shot of Rogue, even though the last we heard was that Anna Paquin’s power-absorbing mutant had been cut out of the film. Too bad, since she’s rocking a sweet Wonder-Woman-in-the-70s white outfit.
