The Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they have signed a new record deal and will release two new albums next year. Billy Corgan revealed the news on the band's website, saying that they've signed a deal with BMG and will release their ninth and tenth albums in 2015.
The albums will be titled Monuments to an Elegy and Day for Night. They will be the first since Oceania in 2012.
Corgan said about the sound of the albums' sound, "think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;' but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic." He added that recording begins today with "plenty of songs" written. Howard Willing, who worked on the band's Adore, will produce with the first single out by the end of the year.
