A surprise cast member of Kevin Smith's upcoming Tusk has been revealed. Actor Justin Long, speak to Newsday (via The Wrap) brings word that Johnny Depp has a role in the offbeat horror tale. Although unconfirmed, it is being speculated that Depp's role is that of Guy Lapointe, a French-Canadian detective.
Tusk follows Wallace (Justin Long), a journalist on a mission. He finds the story of a lifetime in Mr. Howe (Michael Parks), a worldwide adventurer with amazing tales and a curious penchant for walruses.
Tusk also stars Genesis Rodriguez and Haley Joel Osment. The modern-day monster movie was also written by Smith. Sam Englebardt, David Greathouse and Shannon McIntosh are producing the film which is expected to land in theaters this fall through A24 and Demarest Films.
Depp, who has recently delivered under-the-radar roles in films like 21 Jump Street and Jack and Jill, next appears in Transcendence, hitting theaters April 18.
