Buzzfeed reports that Anna Paquin will end up being in X-Men: Days of Future Past after all. Director Bryan Singer previously told Entertainment Weekly that Paquin "won't appear" in the film, as the only scene with her character Rogue had been cut. He said that during the editing process he found the scene was "extraneous" to the story.
He said at the time: "Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."
While the sequence may not be in the film, it seems Rogue will be. Paquin's name appears in the credits after the latest trailer which was released yesterday. A representative for 20th Century Fox has confirmed she's in the movie, but said that "Essentially, [it's] a cameo."
The film will be released on May 23. It stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.
Here's a synopsis: The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
