Reports are coming in from London that British actor Bob Hoskins has died aged 71. A family statement released Wednesday by his agent Clair Dobbs said Hoskins died in a hospital after a bout of pneumonia. His wife Linda and children Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack, said: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob." Though mainly known for playing Cockney gangsters/hardmen types -- most notably Harold Shand in The Long Good Friday -- Hoskins did dip his toe in the fantasy genre, having played Smee in Steven Spielberg's Hook, one of the seven dwarves in Snow White And The Huntsman, Mario in Super Mario Bros. and in probably most memorable role, Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. In 2012 Hoskins announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and was retiring from acting.
