Tripwire Interactive has announced Killing Floor 2, a co-op shooter designed to be "as sick as possible."
Revealed by PC Gamer, the title is due out on both Windows PC and Valve's SteamOS, though there's currently no release window.
The feature at the forefront of the developer's mind is, apparently, gore. You'll be taking down all manner of genetic monstrosities with the bloodstains caused by dismembered limbs remaining present throughout matches. Mo-cap was used heavily in production to create unique animations for weapons and also depending where you attack.
The original Killing Floor came out in 2009, since selling around 2.5 million copies, and its wave-based gameplay remains the core of the sequel. Seeing as continuing support of the original Killing Floor made Killing Floor 2 possible, the team is apparently keen to show their thanks by making the new title very mod-friendly, which should also extend the game's lifespan.
