| This thread is about the expections of women in wrestling and some thing the males also have to follow but it's mainly about the Divas and their do's and don't i've heard a few things that i wanted to know were true or not and here are what they are.... 1. The women in WWE can't choose their own theme music, that WWE chooses what entrance music they will have. 2.The women have to ask permission to change their hairstyles and look 3. WWE Divas can't compete in physical matches and perform certain moves because Vince doesn't want their faces/bodies to get messed up. 4.Women can't choose what character they would like to play or what ring name they would like to be known by. among many other things I've heard i wanted to know if any of the rumors were true and do women in other wrestling companies have these same rules enforced to them | |

| yeah you could apply alot of that to the entire roster..not just girls.
Kristal Marshall didnt like the idea for what her gimmick was going to be after marrying Teddy Long, which is what lead to her release. | |

| Vince needs to croak already, of course im kidding but spare me. Shane needs to takeover, he won't be so sexist with the women. So he don't let them be in "gimmick" matches because he doesn't want there faces ruined? STFU Vince! Stop hiring girls that can't take pain then | |

| None of those things are restricted to the women only and it isn't that black and white.
1. Generally, WWE handle theme music for a number of reasons. One, they wanna find a theme music they think is suitable for the type of image and character of the wrestler/personality and upon finding that music through various sources they may have, it could possibly be easier to obtain permission from the artist to use the music. If all of the wrestlers chose their own theme music, WWE may not be pleased with how they think it reflects their character and it may be harder to obtain permission to use it. As long as there's no permission, WWE can't use it so they'd probably want to use themes that are quick to get license. Both divas and superstars can offer suggestions though but ultimately, it's WWE's decision so if they like it, they could possibly go with a diva's choice of theme music.
2. Basic things I don't believe need permission. A simple haircut or something wouldn't really seem necessary. However, any changes that could possibly affect character or marketability for the company is a change that would most likely have to be run through with management. I don't think WWE would take it too kindly if for example, Mickie, their most over diva, decided to go out and get an extremely short cropped haircut without even asking them about it. The same would go for the men as well but it's not as serious. Only in particular cases do I think it would be applicable for the guys...like a very clean image wrestler, they probably wouldn't want him getting himself tattooed all over. Or someone like Edge who's had long hair his entire career, maybe WWE wouldn't be too pleased if he chopped it off Christian style.
3. All of the workers are restricted with what they can do in the ring. For the women, booking along with time constraints are probably a big factor in the limited and repetitive movesets we see from them. In terms of them not being allowed to use certain moves, there are instances were it's applicable for the guys as well. If a move is dangerous and there have been too many instances where people have used it and have messed it up and posed harm to their opponents (ex. shooting star press), the WWE will ban the move or only allow it to be used by certain workers or at partcular times.
4. None of them can choose what character to play or what name. However, they can always pitch their own ideas to management. If they like it and agree, in that case, they'll be allowed to use a character that they've created for themselves and in the case of ring names, most often people use their real names or some variation of their real name but I think in general, WWE picks the names.

| i would have thought that over time everyone would have some say in the type of character that they have as its a lot easier working with something that they themselves believe in. Molly Holly (remember her!) didn't want to do all the sexy bikini stuff all the time, so they worked around it | |
