Was AJ Styles mentioning his wife on impact! stupid considering the Karen storyline?

When I heard AJ Styles talking about his wife on impact!, I thought it was kind of stupid. I mean, if he would have done it in a year or two, I could have seen it. But he just had this storyline where he was smitten with Karen like 2 months ago. It would have been the equivalent of Kurt Angle in WWE talking about his wife a month after his feud with Triple H over being smitten with Stephanie. I just didn't think it made a whole lot of sense for AJ to bring up his wife. Who wrote the interview?

At first I thought no but yeah it was kinda OOC. But if you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed. I guess this means they didn't screw
around. And AJ almost cheated.

It's pointless of him to meantion seeing as him and kurt are still fueding so it makes no sense for them to say that when the whole storyline if over him and karen cheating.

It helps the new storyline though.
