Tony Award-winning Spring Awakening star John Gallagher Jr. will star in the stage adaptation of Green Day’s American Idiot album, Variety reports. The punk opera about a kid (Gallagher), his drug-dealing alter ego (Jesus Christ Superstar’s Tony Vincent), and his anarchist girlfriend (Passing Strange’s Rebecca Naomi Jones) opens at the Berkeley Rep next month. No New York run has been announced yet.
