Carly Simon is suing Starbucks for withdrawing involvement from its own music label, Hear Music, just five days before it was set to release her album last year, Reuters reports. The suit claims that Hear Music’s marketing plans for her album, This Kind of Love, called for extensive marketing and distribution plans in the United States and Canada. But when Starbucks withdrew, the executives responsible for her album were fired and she was reassigned to jazz label Concord Music, which “had none of the assets that constituted the reason for Ms. Simon’s decision” to sign with Hear Music.
