October 13, 2009 - Dylan Baker has played Dr. Curt Connors in the first three Spider-Man films, which has left fans wondering when they might finally see him transform into his reptilian alter ego on the big screen.
Now director Sam Raimi, who aims to start filming Spider-Man 4 in the spring, has gone on record saying that he likes The Lizard, but did not go so far as to say that he'd use him as the villain in the next sequel.
MTV spoke with Raimi, who explained the process he and the screenwriters are employing to choose a villain. "What we're trying to do right now is really understand the journey Peter [Parker] is going to go on this time and have the villain maybe be a counter to that growth, something that he has to overcome," Raimi said.
He continued, "Or maybe he has to grow in a way to overcome the villain, because there always seem to be stories of coming of age, of a young man growing up and learning things about life, so once we are identifying the exact movement that Peter has to grow to, I think the villain—and we're trying this right now; we're trying to choose a villain based on who would be the proper counter to that growth, so we really have dramatic conflict."
