Roland Emmerich’s been mulling a possible “Independence Day 2” since, well, the beancounter at FOX put a gun to his head and demanded one.
Talking to
Cinema Blend, the “
2012” director says he might now be reading to sequelize his 1996 hit – and Obama’s his muse.
"In Independence Day, it was about a king (Bill Pullman’s President) who leads his country into a fight against an outside invader. I didn't want to make that movie during the Bush years. It was not thought that George W. Bush would have made a great king. Now with Obama, it's another story."
FOX are said to be as hungry as triathlon-competing cat for an “ID4 2” and if Will Smith
wasn’t as hungry for dollars as they are for a film, they would’ve already greenlit one.
Emmerich’s latest film, the spectacular-spectacular “
2012” opens in theatres this week.
