Black Divas

I'm NOT trying to pull the race card but hearing LL call Jacqueline and Jazz the "Token Black girls" inspired me to make this thread,

I never understood why the African American Divas never got that far as some of the other divas in WWE. Lets see we had Jacqueline, Jazz, Kristal Marshall/Lashley, Layla(Yes she is considered black whether you think so or not), Alicia Fox, Shaniqua, Naiomi Knight(Trinity MCcray FCW Diva), Sharmell umm.. did I miss someone? but anyways I always see the black divas automatically playing the heels most of the time, I will admit the person who had the most success in WWE was Jacqueline she won the women's title I think twice and the criuserweight title once and was push as a face in her feud aganist Chavo on Smackdown a few years ago and that will probably the biggest thing for a black diva in WWE EVER.

I know WWE is based on looks and I know Jacqueline,Jazz and Shaniqua weren't exactly beauty queens but they had good wrestling ability well at least Jacqueline and Jazz did but women like Layla, Kristal Marshall/Lashley and Alicia Fox are Pretty but lack the skills of Jacqueline and Jazz but I want to see a black diva more established.

Does anyone see my point though?

I understand what you're saying. Of all the names you mentioned, I would've liked to have seen Kristal get a push f some sorts before she headed off to TNA. Perhaps, not a mega-push; but, something more than what she received.

personally i see Alicia getting a push, maybe even a title in the next year.

tbh the most established black girl in the WWE over the past few years has been Layla, she has more of a character then Alicia, who i reckon was broken away from a more solid mentor aka Michelle way to quickly, but i dont mind cos that put Layla on the map, and will work out better in the long run for her.

Jazz and Jacqueline are the only two to ever win gold but I think that Alicia will be the 3rd.

She has gotten a couple of title shots so it is only a matter of time before she gets gold. She would break the mold so to speak since she is pretty when Jazz and Jacqueline were never deemed pretty.

Good post. I agree with the generic blond faces always getting title runs. Then we have the flip side where the blond heels get the title run. FTW planet are we on Vince? Ever tried having a Black, Asian or Spanish diva be a face??? And I don't mean a generic face but one with real story-lines and pushes. It never fails that most of the time diva's that are non white blondes usually premiere as heels. Someone needs to send the E to some cultural sensitivity classes. This is 2009 not 1809.

her losing to stephanie was used to elevate steph's character which then led to the Lita/steph feud and Lita's push as top babyface diva.

WWE may be ignorent but come on, Melina is a major player (not saying much) in that division, and been heel and face, and she's a Latina. Do you know why? BECAUSE SHE HAD THE LOOK!!!! Jacqueline and Jazz had immense success, Jacqueline even had the damn Cruiserweight title at one point so be happy with that. Hell, Jacqueline was getting a Trish push but guess what? The FANS werent nearly as attracted to her as they were Trish and/or Sable and/or Kat. when WWE coincidently brings on a black woman with equal points wrestling and looks (especially the latter) THEN she will get a push

TNA treated Jackie better too, she was a awesome valet, over with the crowd and was never made to look like a joke. The only thing they fucked up was putting Jackie in the title picture and giving her that one true reign she rightfully deserves.

I agree with LL about Alicia she does look alot better with the straight hair, that would make her looks a lot better, I'm glad Layla keeps her hair straight it looks a lot better. Alicia or WWE whoever told Alicia to get that hairstyle needs to take a lesson from Layla in hair
