Last night, former WWE and TNA star Shawn Daivari appeared on The Voice of Wrestling Radio Show and provided further details concerning his recent release from TNA Wrestling.
As far as his actual release from the company is concerned, Daivari did in fact ask TNA Talent Relations Director Terry Taylor for his release from the company, despite the fact that the company had plans to continue using him. Originally, the Feast or Fired Match which took place at The Final Resolution PPV was supposed to end with both Daivari and Cody Deaner grabbing the briefcase, and the two would then wrestle for the briefcase at a later date on Impact. Deaner would have then won that match, only to open the briefcase and get the pink slip.
However, Daivari asked that the match finish be changed so that he would end his tenure with TNA at the PPV as opposed to continue working for the company when he felt that his character was going no where and was becoming stale. Daivari did indicate that he probably wouldn't have been with TNA much longer anyways, as the plans the company had for him were mostly meaningless, so he decided to finish up at the PPV instead of waiting for his eventual release.
Daivari told us that he had numerous conversations in the past with people like Jeff Jarrett, Vince Russo and Terry Taylor concerning his character and he openly voiced his frustration with his position in TNA on several occasions. Rumors of an apparently large pay cut that Daivari was supposed to take, which have been reported on several other sites, are untrue.
Furthermore, Daivari said he felt that although he respects Vince Russo and the two always got along, he thinks that he doesn't fit the mold of what a wrestler should be in the mind of Russo. Daivari shot down rumors that there might have been bad blood between him, Terry Taylor and Vince Russo. He said the three of them always got along, and the issues at hand were not personal.
