WWE officially bans chair shots to the head

According to a report by the Hartford Courtant, WWE officially banned chair shots to the head at the onset of 2010.

The article talks about Linda McMahon's senate run and WWE spokesperson Robert Zimmerman sent the following e-mail to the writer of the article:

“In January 2010, WWE amended its Talent Wellness Program, specifically regarding the ImPACT™ Concussion Management Program originally instituted in 2008, eliminating the use of folding chairs or props to 'strike' an opponent in the head. Prior to this policy change, The Tables, Ladders and Chairs event in question took place on December 13, 2009. Incidentally, no performer suffered a concussion during the TLC event.”

The company’s concussion program features annual examinations of talents as well as evaluations of whether they can return to active competition following head trauma.

The verbiage involving chair shots reads as follows:

*The WWE has eliminated using folding metal chairs to “strike” an opponent in the head.

*The WWE penalizes through fine and/or suspension the following:

-The intentional use of a folding metal chair to “strike” an opponent in the head.

-Any blow to the head that is deemed an INTENTIONAL act.

*The fine and/or suspension will be directed by the EVP of Talent Relations.

WWE has a bad rep for caring for their WWE stars and things haven't changed much. Everytime there's a body, who do people blame? Mainly Vince because he's the big dog in the wrestling world. People have tried suing him enough for many things, I don't think he wants to have another body on his clock and being taken to the bank for it.

Just a guess, but, the two sports specifically (violent sports) that I believe he's referring to is MMA (UFC / Strike Force) and Footbal. Have you ever watched those?

well there's Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing, and K-1/Kickboxing.

Football is sort of violent, but if that's not your thing there's also a few white ppl sports like Rugby, LAX, or Hockey.

Boxing is probabily the most violent sport I ever seen!!!God dam these people be beatin the shit out of each other.

Yeah, if it's Chuck Liddel vs Manny Pacquiao.. Chuck is prolly fucked becaused he'd primarily a brawler. However if it's someone like George St. Pierre vs Oscar de la Hoya, my money is on George because of his versitile fighting style.

We haven't seen chair shots to the head in ages anyway, so its not like you've missed anything. Undertaker seemed to be the only one who took them these days anyway.

There have been some, they've just been scarce.

I'm sorry, but this was one of the best things WWE had done in some time (politically influeced or not). I mean, the ban was on chair shots to the HEAD. It did NOT say chair shots to the stomach, back, leg, shoulder, or conducting moves on the chair. It didn't ban moves ON the chair, like a powerslam on top of a chair, or something like a Killswitch on the chair.

That's just my take in it.
