Eleven-year-old Trinette Robinson of Bristol, Conn. beat out some seriously stinky competition with her smelly kicks. The tween triumphed over eight other finalists to win top prize at the 35th annual National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker contest on Tuesday in Montpelier, Vt.
Nine kids faced a panel of "odor specialists" who judged the pungent smells from the most offensive sneakers in the country. The contestants wore their rotten rubber-soles, showing off their decrepit condition and odor with pride, but Trinette's were the best worst pair of the bunch.
Thanks to playing hard at Girl Scout Camp and doing community walks for charity, Trinette was able to stink up her sneakers enough to win $2,500, a trip to New York City and a year's supply of Odor Eater products.
What is Trinette going to do with her prize? "I'm going to send some of the products that I won to the soldiers overseas," she says. " And with the money, I'm going to save some for college, and I'm going to buy a new pair of sneakers to make everybody else happy."
