Update on the status of Shawn Michaels.

Following last night's Wrestlemania 26, it appears that Shawn Michaels really is retiring, or at least taking a long break at the very least.

The WWE public relations person in the media section last night was telling reporters that Shawn Michaels is indeed retiring. This was also the word going around backstage at the show. A long break is at least possible as Shawn was telling people goodbye last night.

The very first wrestling match I ever saw, Michaels won. This was in 1988, and he's been my favorite ever since.


It's very hard and sad to see him go. 22 years of greatness and no one will ever outshine him.

He said he was keeping his word so it doesn't surprise me. Still sad to see him go

Funny you bring that up Dead....I went to my brothers to watch Mania and asked him who was gonna win and he said Taker then said HBK would show up in TNA.

And yeah Vee, that's what HBK was saying, he wouldn't go back on his word.

well anyone knows that retirement is code for "i wanna go to TNA". look at Victoria, she "retired" then 5 months later got the itch to come back, and look where she ended up. same thing with Flair, except he had to wait a year

i think he's too young to be in TNA... you gotta be getting Social Security before you can join TNA.

Michaels has been very loyal to WWE, and I don't think he would go to TNA because he misses wrestling. If he ever did come back it would be with WWE.

Of all the times he left WWE in the past he never went to WCW or ECW or any other place.

I enjoyed Shawn's farewell address on RAW. Wonder how long Vince will wait before putting Shawn in the WWE Hall Of Fame?

I wonder what type of sendoff Taker will get.

Shawn didn't get a big sendoff, I doubt Undertaker will. But then Undertaker is Vince's baby, so you never know.

Maybe not some speech, but, perhaps a final showing at WrestleMania or something.
