Interview Tips

Spring is here..most people are looking for summer jobs. What interview tips have you learned that you could share with our fellow members of WD?



1. Create a Work E-mail. I'd suggest using your first initial, last name and year you were born. like MJohnson1979@hotmail. com (or gmail/yahoo w/e) It looks more professional than the e-mail/msn you might use with your friends.

2. Make good eye contact. I know this can be somewhat hard but it's always good to make eye contact and give off that air of confidence.

3. Dont fall for trick questions. Many employers will try to trip you up with a question like "What are your weaknesses?" For questions like this, I usually answer it by saying my weakness is that I am a perfectionist. I like to try something as many times as possible, even if it's time consuming, just to make sure it is done right.

4. Dress professionally, even if its just an interview for a job at a fast food joint, you always want to make an impression. Remember a first impression goes a long way with some bosses. Don't over do it either. Especially on the make-up, the natural look is always the best.

5. Set up a mock interview with a good friend, to be ready for some of those tricky questions Vix was talking about. It is ok to say a Weakness if asked but after-wards its nice to counteract it with a strength, like one of my weaknesses is is that I procrastinate, but at the same time its a strenght that I work better under pressure and stress.

Well thats all I got for now.

What kind of questions do they ask and how do you guys answer them? I've never been interviewed and I'm scared shitless because I feel like I'll get one anyday from now.

I know that I can look it up but I would prefer some input from you guys that have had interviews before.

well the question itself is kinda a way interviewers like to trip you up.

so you answer with something that isnt really a weakness to begin with. The main thing you dont want to do is down yourself or show true weaknesses in an interview. You should remain confident.

I've never got a question such as, "what are your weeknesses". I've always applied for jobs in Casinos, each one has been something such as working in a restaurant or star Bucks. There questions were always pretty much the same. You had two sets, one from the casino company, & the buisness you're applying for.

LiE, i have mostly worked in places like food service and that question comes up all too often. it's annoying mostly.

Never had a job interview before, always had a job in my dad's company i didn't want, yet i had to because i was going to night school and that was part of the agreement
