Michelle McCool Wants Respect; Says She Fights for Divas Division & More

Former — or should that be half current? — Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool says she wants to earn respect for her work in the WWE, speaking in a new interview with her official website. McCool also notes that she ‘fights for the Divas division’ and wants to see it flourish. She says:

I want people to know that this is genuinely a business I absolutely adore! A business that, at times, drives me crazy because of how much I love it! That, no matter what anyone might say, they can not take away the fact that I work hard in the ring, out of the ring (creatively), pitching ideas right & left, fighting for the divas, wanting more, never being satisfied, always striving to climb a little more, trying to put together the best possible match with whomever I’m in the ring with, etc…. I just want the divas division to always continue to flourish and not just “settle!”

Elsewhere in the interview, she says one of the things she wants to be remembered for is ‘not giving up on the Divas division’.
McCool also comments on the Diva releases this past year — including Maria, Mickie James and Katie Lea — saying:

I, like I think most people, was VERY shocked!!!! I don’t think you can ever prepare yourself once people start getting released. 99% of the time, you grow very close to the ones we work with (since we are together more with each other than with our own families) & it makes it that much harder!

A lot is said about Michelle on the Internet, but I certainly can’t deny her passion and enthusiasm for the Divas division. WWE disappoints us a lot with subpar treatment or the Divas and I’m sure it’s just as frustrating for the Divas themselves but it’s always nice to hear that these girls want more, just as we do as fans.

Funny since Jillian is a jobber in the first place so I don't consider anyone who pins her burying her. Burying is what Michelle does, Layla and Kelly are next on her list.

No, I am really growing tired of your hypocrital remarks. If this was Melina saying this, you'd be the first to say "omg look at the passion Melina has for the business, she is always putting the business first and yada yada yada..." But as soon as it comes to Michelle, someone you dislike, you have to instantly attack her when like LL said, its not her fault shes pushed.

If Maryse had an interview and said a similar thing (Even though I hate Maryse), I'd respect her for what she is trying to do, and her passion for the business. Although I dislike the title reigns she has, I'd appreciate that she has passion for the business.

People need to get over the fact that Michelle isn't where she is because of the Undertaker. That might have influenced it slightly, but Undertaker can't make her a good wrestler, or give her passion for the business. Michelle has done that all on her own. She had all the necessaries there, sometimes it just takes a push to showcase potential. Face it, if Jillian was sleeping with Triple H and got a huge push, noone would care because she isn't a DS reject.

If it wasn't for Michelle, we would be seeing pointless matches on Smackdown, and wouldn't have had the great fueds/storylines and interest the WWE is investing in their division.

Here is the thing i don't get about it. Why is it that there has been rotation on who gets to be in the spotlight on Raw, while on Smackdown they fail to have any rotation what so ever since summer of 2007, which was about 3 years ago? Why is all this attention being put into developement of Michelle while time and time again it has been a flop, with her battling the best of the best, Natalya and Jillian, to adding Alicia Fox, to adding Layla, to adding Vickie just to get people interested into this woman no on cared about.

WWE may have had hard ons on Maryse and Eve, but that much input has yet to be put into getting these women over and getting people interested in them. Like i mentioned before, rotation, their might have been the same 4 women in the spotlight constantly on Raw, but we've had rotations on who exactly it it, we went from Mickie-Katie to Mickie - Beth to Beth - Candce to Beth Melina, Mickie- Alicia to Mickie Maryse to Maryse-Melina, Alicia-Melina. Maryse-Gail, Mickie-Gail, Eve-Maryse Even if it was constantly Beth, Melina, Mickie and Maryse, there has been rotation on both sides. While on SD, despite having Natalya, despite having Serena, the focus is on Michelle. Hell when Maryse won the title off of Michelle, booking Maria - Michelle seemed more of a priority then booking Maryse in a next feud and why is that? And because they invested soo much time in focusing on Michelle, because they couldn't bother building someone else to overtake Michelle on SD take on Maryse, the play it easy and move Maryse to Raw and move Melina to SD so that so that they don't have to bother putting anyone over Michelle, despite the fact they could have just tossed Gail Kim into the spotlight. BUT ironicly after Mickie won the title off of Maryse, Gail Kim was named Nr. 1 contender for the Divas championship. So your telling me, the only way to name Gail Kim the new number one contendr is to move her to a complete diffrent brand where that same title was already active?? Oh please

I still think Michelle will be the death of the women's division, because thus far, it's been a one man show.

Of course they wouldn't. Michelle could go on a losing streak for a year but she'd still be deemed overpushed lol.

Maryse has also been in the title picture since she first won the title.

The only thing that seperates them is the fact that Maryse was injured and took her away from the division.

Sorry even prior to Mayrse, when i was Mickie, Melina and Beth, all three took turns being pushed and despitethem being constantly pushed, Candice, Alicia Fox and Katie Lea got a go at it.

The day i see Michelle work a feud outside of the championship circle then i'll truly believe she is trying to really help the division and not herself.

This isn't about winning or losing, Michelle could lose 1000 matches a year and STILL being part of the championship feud. That doesn't mean taking a back seat. She's still in the spotlight because regardless of winning or losing, she is still the main focus, which is the point i'm trying to get too and the one you don't get.

winning or losing has nothing to do with this. The fact that she has been part of the championship feud for the last 2 years clearly says it all. Overpushed doeasn't mean you are winning all the matches, it just means that everything and anything that goes around the Womens/Divas championship, revolves around you.

Its the same as people like Cena though. He is passionate about the business, and WWE pushes him constantly in the title scene, where he doesn't have much choice in the matter.

Although Michelle is in the title scene too much, I can see why WWE keep putting her in it. They needed a strong heel to take on Melina, Mickie and Beth. Other than Michelle, there are no credible heels able to do the job. WWE wouldn't push Jillian or Katie, and for that reason relied back on Michelle as the strong heel for all the faces.

And at the expence of overtaking Melina, Maryse, Mickie & Beth, aligning her with Alicia Fox, Layla and Vickie Guererro, cheap jokes to get her there. Like i said, a shit load of effort got put into building Michelle, and until 6 months ago, no one cared about her. The fans just didn't care, at the expence of Mckie is when the bothered.

WWE is High on Maryse and Eve as well, but i have yet to see them put as much input in making the fans care about them, then they did with Michelle. AND Michelle can say no, many women have said no before, i don't see why she can't. Especially if they think she is such an important asset, they would have listened to her

If Trish didn.'t agree with something, she would say it and they would accept her answer, because she is an important asset, Stacey said no multiple times, she is an important asset, if Michelle was such an important asset, they would have kindly said ok, then what should we do. Right now Beth phoenix is seen as the most valuable woman in the division, the day she says no to an Idea you think they are going to throw her in the dog house? NO, because she is important. If they cared for Michelle and thought she was an important asset to the division, they would listen to what she has to say, but oddly they don't, which once again, just makes me question her position even more.

Have I sat there and called Michelle terrible? Hell no. I respect her hard work in the ring and she is a great wrestler but that doesn't mean I can't have my own feelings on her always burying people. She's in the spotlight way more than a lot of people. Hell, she's been the top heel on SD for how long? I think Michelle is definitely the female Cena (but I love her and hate him lol)

She is always in the title picture but at the same time we've had some great matches because of her "backstage pull". At the end of the day, all I really care about is the ladies having great matches, SD is the McCool show just like Raw was the Trish show but now they're two championships so those on Raw will benefit. That's a main reason why McCool doesn't bother me

I agree with this statement. I have always felt if she really wants to help the divison that badly, others will be getting a chance, but thats not happening. If shes that important, she also has the power to turn something down and have WWE give another girl a chance. Shes been pushed since 2007. I have nothing against her, I respect her hard work and the fact shes improved, I will give her credit, shes one of the better ones to come out of the DS. But its time she take a backseat so others like Nattie, Gail, Serena, Jillian, Alicia can have a go.

As far as Cena, He has been outside of the title picture a few times since he came back from that one injury. Hes put over people like Orton, and hes Put Sheamus of all people, someone new and starting out, over. That shows that Cena is at least trying to help others get in the spotlight and get over.

My problem is did Michelle really need to become the first ever Diva's Champion? and did she really need to win that match by making Natalya submit?? and did she really need to become the first woman to hold both titles? It's hard to see shit like that happen, but then read things like this.. It's like she talks a good game, and she says a lot of pretty things about helping others, but when you see her track record it doesn't really add up, and what ideas is she pitching backstage? Is she like "Hey Vince, I think I should be the first diva to hold both titles, I think I should do this, and I should do that..." I'll admit she's damn good at what she does in the ring, but I'd like to see something a little different.

I'm not mad at her, I'm mad at the fact that she won, I don't think she deserved it.
