WWE Diva Michelle Michelle has earned the number one position in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's third annual "PWI Female 50" chart ranking the top 50 women's wrestlers in North America from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. She succeeds multi-time WWE Women's Champion Mickie James, who charted No. 1 in last year's list.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated attributes its decision to ranking McCool as the top women's wrestler in North America with the following facts:

FACT: In June 2009, McCool became the first woman in WWE history to have held both the Divas and Women's championships, thanks to a win over Melina.

FACT: Over the past 12 months, McCool has scored pinfall victories over Melina, Gail Kim, and Mickie James—three of the most decorated women wrestlers of the past decade.

FACT: From July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010, McCool held (or co-held) the WWE Women’s championship for 325 of 365 days.

Good for her, I guess. I don't agree with it though.

FACT: For a magazine that choose Michelle as their "Top Woman" we sure as hell are defensive about our decision, hmm, maybe it's because we realize that fans will look at who we choose and scream "Bullshit!"

She deserves it because if you only count that time frame who else would get it from tna or wwe?

Face it an indy wrestler rarely ever gets top honors on these magazine lists so they are all ineligible basically.. Not right but McCool is a good winner anyways.

I'm still pissed I didn't buy the last year's issue in time.

I still think I should get the issue on back order.

I know she was but that's a fact as well. Just take LayCool for example. Layla is the real champion yet has to share the spotlight with Michelle and has to come out to her music as well

I know I don't like that but McCool doesn't decide that..

well officially she has only held it 238 days .. but from a storyline stand point yh shes held it for all of her reigns and all of Laylas

well now that she isn't in the spotlight as much as she used to be i like her. she is one of the best workers on the roster and has improved on the mic. the LayCool gimmick really suits her and if they break them up she should stay heel

I think shes still in the spotlight. Layla is basically sharing her title run with her. I consider that in the spotlight.

Well i'm still happy for her. She is the IT girl of SD..even if she does go over almost all SD talent. WWE would be kinda screwed if Michelle got hurt. Layla is an ok heel but she couldnt take the top heel role on SD...and the only other option is Rosa? Need I say more? Rolling Eyes

I know some were probably disappointed and hoping the honor would go to Melina, but the way I see it, we just saw that Raw can survive without Melina. SD wont be nearly as easy to salvage in the event McTwiggy cant be there. She's keeping SD going, even though "keeping it going" means going over just about every diva who comes her way...

McTwiggy has come into her own and I'm happy for her. She's cemented the top heel role on SD and it's working for her.

^Im not dissapointed Melina didnt get it, I understand why She didnt get the top spot. She was injured. I Knew she wasnt going to be ranked all that high.

TBH Michelle isnt the only one who keeps SD going. Beth did too before she got hurt, now we got Kelly and Tiffany as top faces and they are not cutting it at all.

I agree Michelle does keep things going on SD but I dont think shes the only diva. I feel she gets way too much credit. I give Michelle credit for her improvments but the other divas do work as hard as her and should get some credit.

OOHHHH, I thought you were talking the whole show all together. LOL Sorry. Yeah The face side needs a lot of help right now. I cant wait for Beth to get back. As far as Beth turning heel, Nope, she was doing great as a face before she got hurt.

I dont think Layla could be taken seriously as a heel on her own. She seems perfect as a sidekick heel...

Solo, i think she's a natural face. i couldnt see her as top heel.

I wouldn't say Michelle is booked as overly dominant anymore. In her fued with Mickie, Mickie was built as the more stronger competitor, squashing Michelle in like 7 seconds, and only lost the title when Vickie screwed her out of it. Same with Beth, Michelle could only pin Beth when there was a 7 on 1 match and a 2 on 1 versus an injured Beth to take the title off of her.

She has also lost to Kelly recently, and both of them in tag matches.

I think SD could manage if Michelle got injured. They could always bring someone from Raw to SD to be the top heel. At least someone would be able to have the spotlight without Michelle there.

And tbh, I don't really care that Melina didn't get it. I never expected her to

Well she didn't have much competition lol.

Umm she beat out a bunch of Male wrestlers who actually had some sort of talent.

I don't think Layla could do it. Her and Michelle both kind of need each other.

Before they teamed, Layla didn't have anything going and I would've banked on her being future endeavored soon.

McCool had more going, but she was stiff in the personality and charisma department. Layla's personality rubs off on her some now.

yes i understand that, but i feel the exposure Layla has recieved during the past year, has helped her gain the confidence..and as i said Maryse managed to be top heel through character alone...and i can easily see Layla still carry on the LayCool gimmick of being a mean girl on her own..accept this time she has to fend for herself, as she wont have Michelle to back her up, and if WWE booked her to overcome the lack of back up, it makes her more credible as well
