| Trish Stratus is the latest former Diva to talk about WWE eliminating its Women's Championship and using the Divas title moving forward. Stratus, who is currently filming a new action movie called "Bail Encforcers," made the following comments to DivaDirt.com this week about the news:
"I have mixed feelings. It's one of these, 'Is the glass half full or half empty?' [situations]. Instead of looking at it as the belt is being retired or put to bed, I'm thinking, let's just focus on this and build this different thing. Building a new legacy, building a new division, building some new women and I think that's how you have to look at it. First of all, the two belts was just not necessary... ever. It's kinda like, 'Get one... let's move forward.' [Laughs] But I don't know, I'm kind of like okay with it. I feel like it's a different time, a different generation. I feel like we did some great stuff with that belt and maybe it don't get no better than that? Maybe it's one of those things? It's like, let's just leave this here. It's pretty perfect and has a perfect legacy behind it, and let's start this and we'll start to build this from because it's definitely a different time. There's probably the biggest group of women that could potentially all work matches [right now]. Most of them can work matches and potentially you could have everybody, I mean that's a pretty big division, if you could build everything properly. So I think looking at it like that, it's almost like okay, this is the new thing, this is the women's division of today and let's build it. It's not a bad thing."

| She makes an interesting point.
Beth Natalya Michelle Melina Gail
Those are the five that put on the most respectable performances.
There are few others that are gradually improving enough to make you say, "hmm, nice job!"
The others are just there to look good.

| I don't think any woman is happy about the women's title being gone. It was just a stupid thing for WWE to do but it's not surprising considering they always do stupid things
And Eve is nowhere near ready to feud for the title. Michelle would have to carry her ass in every single match to make her look good.

She's been awfully repetitive in her matches, but she's still capable of putting on a decent match.

| Trish is just jealous that Laycool were the ones to make history and not her. She may be a 7 time womens champion, but Michelle is the first to win the divas title, first to hold both titles, and the only unified womens champion ever! Laycool is also the first diva team to hold the womens championship and the unified womens championship. They're simply FLAWLESS! | |

But when Trish got pushed hard like that at least she wasn't banging someone with power like Michelle is. And Trish also retired with the belt, I don't think Michelle will do that because Taker will be gone by the time Michelle retires.

| @ X: I have to disagree with you. Simple fact is the company was different when she was there and the extra championship wasn't there. I'm sure Trish would liked to have had the opportunity to win the Divas Championship, but she's very content with the career that she's had. Considering what she did, wrestling and managing, in comparison to Michelle... I would say that Trish made her stay worth her while, and her fans.
@ Mintz: You're probably right about Michelle not retiring as champion. But, she's already so established and is continuing to build a legacy. By the time he's Taker is gone, it probably won't even matter if he's married to her or not if they ever decided to let her retire as champ.

| Michelle was a FAILED ATTEMPT her first 4 pushes.......LayCool saved her.....WWE has NEVER given a Diva...THAT MUCH chances.....Taker may not be a reason now....BUT he is a reason why she was constantly given an opportunity after she failed to be Top Face, Failed with the Teacher Gimmick, FAILED when she Beat Natalya....she was a FAIL after Fail after FAIL no matter how much WWE pushed her....no one cared. Her having two charismatic Lackey saved her career twice.
I don't see how she was a "Good Diva" when after many attempts she FAILD on any solo pushes they gave her.

I'm not faulting her for falling in love with Taker. I'm sure they're very happy together, but I do think he's the reason she's been pushed this hard and made all this history. I think she's using his power to her advantage. If she says something WWE will instantly do it because she's with Taker. And I talk shit about Triple H all the time, lol. I think if he hadn't married the bosses daughter he wouldn't have been pushed nearly as hard as he has been. The guy runs around burying everyone as well and will do so if he actually comes back which I'm hoping he doesn't.

They gave up on her and is trying Natalya..... WWE never tossed Michelle aside...after every failed attempt....there she was....getting her character tweeked for another failed push. Michelle came in as the teacher...it FAILED, they then turned her face for no reason let Jillian (Who at that time was a heat magnet) put her over...she FAILED...then they went with those "ALL American Girl" videos...she got repacked came back...FAILED....as top Face...Victoria put her over...Michelle FAILED once again, Hell she was involved in this intense storyline with Jamie Noble & Chuck....and that FAILED. | Actually she was Dating Taker as early as 2007 and maybe since 2006 because the picture that Surfaced for the first time of them holding hands featured Sharmell who left the WWE around this time in 2007. So they were dating since 2007. Ironicly in 2007 is when the Vingettes for the "All American Girl" started airing. And before that is when she got her major push in 2007 taking on Jillian. Which moved to the "All American Girl" Vingettes in June. She was partnered with Chuck and was feuding with Kenny & Victoria.
After that she was the focus point in the major Chuck-Jamie Noble angle that went on from October to Februari. And basicly 2007 is where Michelle's career in the WWE sky rocketted with 2 Failed Attempts in one Year and then the whole SD Divas contest which she won, then moved on to Natalya who also put her over, then etc.
Reign, you may think it's Hate...but it's fact. Michelle became the focus point of the division in 2007, the same year the rumors of her dating taker came out in the open.

Well, obciously it wasn't that much of a fail if WWE decided to strap her with gold. You can look to both Sheamus and HHH. What's the one thing they have in common? Approval from HHH. One is a 2-time WWE Championm the other has had his push slowed. Yes, sure, there was the thing about his temper and no one wanting to work with him. The power of persuation is strong with HHH, but it wasn't enough to get Drew that big push. At a certain point you have to separate business from your personal feelings. Taker has a rep for being very professional. I trust that he'd be able to do that.

| I loved her interview.
And it was nice to know what she thought now I want to here what Lita, Molly, Jazz, and Victoria think.
I hope this Diva's Title can become prestigious but they just have to be smart with who they push to the belt and slow it down with certain people winning it too many times.

| The right step would be to bring in more who can actually wrestle. Develop them. Let go a few who they clearly have no intentions of using. New faces, fresh look to the division. | |

Well, obciously it wasn't that much of a fail if WWE decided to strap her with gold. Because she was with Taker! It's pretty clear especially from what Kev just said if they've been together that long. They just got married a few months ago and look what happened, she made history once again and continues to be on top. I don't think it's Taker doing anything for her, I think it's Michelle doing it for herself as I stated, she'll say she wants to do this or that and they'll do it because she's with him

| We do know Michelle has more backstage power in pitching ideas and storylines than the other divas, but I don't believe she uses her posistion to be constantly in the spotlight. Anyway, I'd prefer a Michelle in the spotlight with WWE actually giving a damn about the womens division, then a division which has no focus (aka raw) | |

| If Michelle hadn't been the one making all this history I would agree that maybe, just maybe WWE love her enough to keep giving her these pushes, but the fact is, everytime something is on the line Michelle has to be the first to get it whether it's to become the first divas champion or the first woman to unify the belts. People complained about Melina being in the spotlight all the time yet most are totally fine with Michelle being in the spotlight, I find that funny.
At least Melina is taking a backseat now so when Beth returns it's Michelle's turn to take a backseat and let others shine. She should've done that with Layla in the first place but god forbid anyone else have the spotlight.

Melina is out of the spotlight because she went from Nr. 1 on the food chain to Nr. 3......but if we still had 2 championships...guess what number She would be? Melina is not taking a backseat, she just had no choice

| Trish is just jealous she was never....FLAWLESS! I'm sorry, but in the last two years Melina's skill as changed dramatically. As a heel in 06 I would rank her as 4th right now maybe higher, she was awesome and had such a diverse, yet solid moveset. Now idk...Just don't buy it anymore. Its obvious they are building Michelle & Beth are the Trish/Lita of this generation. | |

| Michelle and Beth? No comment.
@Mintz: I as well as LL have said a few times that if not for LayCool, enither of of would give a shit about her. Since Layla is being given the opportunity to have a strong character who's winning, I'll deal with Michelle for the time being. Funny thing is I've developed a tolerance for her. Not a fan, but there isn't a hatred.

| exactly i can tolerate McCool only becasue of Layla...and iff it werent for McCool Layla could very well be looking for a job somewhere...so there is a sort of gratitude i have towards McCool...but i aint no fan of hers.
and perhaps Melina is taking a backseat becasue shes not as goodas she was when she returned...her pops arent as good..her inring work isnt either.
and whos to say she has takn a backseat...maybe she will interfere or somhing

| I don't know what you're on about LL as Melina has still gotten huge pops, she was VERY over at the super show I went to and there were Melina chants. It really has nothing to do with that but more to do with just wanting to use someone as filler til Beth returns.
And if you've read the spoilers for tonight then obviously you'd be able to tell that she has infact taken a backseat. Just saying.
