Report: Wrestler Leaves WWE Over Financial Issues

Adam Atherton, who performed as Rudy Parker in WWE's developmental promotion Florida Championship, apparently asked to be released from his contract earlier this month because he was denied a raise by organization officials and was therefore unable to afford to pay back his student loans.

UPDATE: Rudy Parker addressed these release rumors via his Facebook page: "Answering the question that seems to be on most people's mind...I RESIGNED b/c the WWE didn't give me the raise that i had been told about when i signed the contract. when i wasn't making enough to pay back my student loans, i had no choice but to resign."

poor guy. i swear i hate that college costs so much freaking money...and in the end it's exactly like high school.

its like a giant scam.

Yeah, too many guys get trapped in that once a wrestler, always a wrestlers mindset... and these aren't the times to get stuck halfway if you have financial and/or health problems.

I see a flaw in his logic. Why does he think an income, albeit minus a promised raised will get him less money than no work? He wants to pay off his student loans but now doesn't have a job.

But now he has control his bookings and work more shows. And because he's a former WWE talent, (but not much since it was FCW) he gets a bit more then some of the local talent.

I'm sure there are many promotions in Florida...so if he resides there...it shouldn't be much of an issue.

I can understand that, but he was working, and now he's not.

There's no guarantee that he'll find work with Indy Promotions. He has taken a risk though, and it was his choice. Can't blame him for strapping on a pair.

Maybe he already had other things lined up, but couldn't fully pursue them because of his contract with WWE, if he was smart of enough to realize wwe was bullshitting around with him and wasn't going to live up to their end of the bargain, then I doubt he'll be dumb enough to just quit working all together.

Maybe. He knows his reasons, so it should end at that.

If he didn't already have a back-up plan, he wouldn't have quit. Smart man.
