| Just before WWE's Hell In A Cell pay-per-view event, WWE's creative team were reportedly told to develop a new idea for a 'gimmicked' cage match. Company officials feel the Hell in a Cell match has run its course and a new type of cage match is needed to draw increased revenue for future pay-per-view events. We'll keep you posted.

| Didn't they do this before? Wasn't it the Punjabi Prison Match?
And how can they say the Hell In A Cell has run its course? I think making a PPV revolve around it was a mistake because I always looked forward to when WWE would hold a PPV with a HiaC match. Now you know when its coming its not as exciting but still, I wouldn't get rid of it. | |

| It's their fault that it's 'run it's course.' There's an annual ppv based on the match-type. Nearly every feud for the world titles culminate in a hiac match (steel cage match or last man standing). Over-usage is an overstatement. A new match concept wouldn't be bad, they just need to refrain from making it there go-to match when they can't think of anything else. TBH, I wouldn't mind seeing more no holds barred matches in the future. I think it can be pulled off despite the limited lengths they can can go to with the violence. | |
