Were you offended by Christina Aguilera's botch?

I'm listening to 1050 ESPN radio and these guys are having a heated debate on whether or not it's offensive that she messed up on the National Anthem.

Some people have called up and said they're offended by it, and they should have gotten someone else to sing it.

Obviously, these people didn't see her last year in the NBA finals: she sung it in the first two games in Los Angeles... and sung damn well.

These people are acting like she's the only one to ever messed up, quite a shame!

I am not offended in the slightest. Yes, she messed it up. I barely noticed, but are WAY over reacting.

Point Blank She sucks as a singer and shouldn't of been singing it to begin with she sucked at the nba finals when she did it. Alot better singers could of done it and she was horrible and took alot longer to do it.

the lady takes between 1:56 seconds to over 2 minutes to sing the anthem in what many grammy winners can sing in a 1 minutes 30 seconds and sound good.

Still don't see what exactly is the problem?? I mean, first off, she's a 4 time grammy winner herself. Secondly Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Britney have all have Grammy Fame but they aren't exactly the most amazing singers in the world so i don't see why you are even mentioning the grammies in the first place as if only amazing singers are nominated or win grammy's because Jonas brothers, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber have all had Grammy Fame and they aren't what i would exactly call....talented.

they can hire singer who get it right and finished in good time. They knew she wasn't good at it from the last time I mean Vegas oddmakers how bets on how long it would take her to finish. She botched the national anthem.

Carrie Underwood did a goodjob last year.

But she might not of been the worse to sing that night because the Black eye peas shit was horrible they sounded like crap. I thought personally Black Eyes Peas were a bigger disappointment because they got a whole half time show and didn't do one song good.

I think she wasn't any good singin it the past 2 times.

I hold more beef with the black eye peas sucking on the half time show then her because they had a ton of time to plan the half time shows and it sounded like crap.

So she messed up, no biggie, shit happens.

I don't get why people are calling sports shows complaining about it. I thought they would complain more over black eye peas then that. I mean to me the NFL probably won't ask her to sing another superbowl. The Lakers probably will because the Lakers like to have stars in there arena. I am more shocked how horrible the black eye peas sounded last night which was very disappointing.

The best of the best mess up. I'll admit, I hated the rendition, and her voice wasn't on point; but it's an admiration to what she can do.

Not a huge fan of her music, but she can sing her ass off.

And yes, the BEP did not sound good at all. The other stuff made it entertaining though.

Let me start off by bringing up a previous Superbowl featuring another Grammy winner, Miss Whitney Houston:




Whitney fucking KILLED it, to this day it is considered one of the best moments in television history, everyone and I mean everyone considers this the best rendition of the national anthem. Whitney raised the bar and since then, much to the horror of everyone, almost every damn female singer has been trying to reach it and surpass her efforts leading to some really shitty versions...trust, search youtube and you'll weep.


Anyway, Christina has a great voice, her main problem is that she tends to overdo things sometimes. Well within a few seconds she was overdoing it, add in forgetting the lyrics and the fact that she was on a national stage; it was an embarrassing moment I'm sure she wishes she could forget. Honestly, had she came out and sung normally without trying to hit every note on the scale; she would have been fine, she might not have created another Whitney moment, but she wouldn't be dealing with the uproar that's going on right now.

She sounded great - don't care for that rendition though.

You're right about Christiana: she sounded much better when she sang at the nba finals, but again, the rendition was a little over the top.

The US will not fall because she sang it wrong.

It is just a song just like every other song.

There are more ways to honor your country than singing a song. How ridiculous is the notion that to praise the country and be a good citizen we have to sing a song.

i think if someone judges a country by how well 1 citizen can sing the national anthem...that's a bit...ridiculous..

i think if people hate amaerica it's most likely due to the fact we keep sticking our damn nose in the business of damn near every other country on the planet..

not whether or not someone can sing a sing...

I personally didn't see the performance, but I know it takes a LOT of courage to get up in front of MILLIONS and sing. The Superbowl is one of the most watched sporting events. I'd be nervous as fuck no matter how much experience I have.

Anyway, no one's perfect, mistakes happen. I've known the words to the anthem since elementary but that doesn't mean much if I find myself in the spotlight & mess up.

considering this womans sang in front of millions her entire career, just because it was the Super Bowl doesnt really make it a valid excuse
