Although he was widely considered as one of the most dangerous heels in World Wrestling Entertainment, “The Apex Predator” or “The Viper” Randy Orton, has had a different year or so, compared to those gone previously, having made the transition into becoming a babyface, based on the overall crowd reactions.

In an interview with ESPN, Orton discussed what it was like to transition into the babyface role in World Wrestling Entertainment and much more, helping to hype up WWE’s latest videogame, WWE All-Stars.

Regarding Orton becoming a babyface in World Wrestling Entertainment, he noted that when you go from being a good guy to a bad guy or vice versa, like he did, people tell you not to change and in his case, the less change there was, the better it was, because the fans helped to turn him and it wasn’t a master plan, where all of a sudden, he was going to be a good guy, he just started to gain a lot of support from the fans.

Orton said there was a fine line, because unlike John Cena, Orton was not going out there high-fiving kids and hugging grandma’s and pumping his fist and smiling, because if he did that, he would have failed tremendously as a babyface, just like he did back in 2004, when he was World Heavyweight Champion.

Orton said that it is really about looking at your character and seeing what the fans like about you and seeing how much you can change, without walking a fine line on it. Orton said that he thinks that he has done a pretty good job, however noted that he is still learning as he goes. Orton noted that it took him about five years, to become really comfortable as a bad guy in World Wrestling Entertainment as a heel and he expects it to take another couple of years to become comfortable as a babyface in the company, however noted that he is on the right path.
