| While many professional wrestling fans initally felt that he was the mysterious man behind the 2/21/11 promotional videos, that aired on WWE Monday Night RAW, before ultimately being revealed as The Undertaker, it could have possibly happened and a match between Sting and The Undertaker along with Sting being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame was actually a certain possibility.
In an interview with Patrick Lennon of the Daily Star, based out of the United Kingdom, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling superstar and current TNA Heavyweight Champion Sting, discussed how close he was to signing a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment, what prevented him from signing the deal and joining the company, as well as what incentives were on offer for him joining the WWE.
Sting said that he was offered a match with The Undertaker and a spot in this year’s WWE Hall of Fame from World Wrestling Entertainment and that the talk amongst professional wrestling fans online, immediately after the first 2/21/11 promotional video that it was Sting was not utter nonsense and that it was a dream match that professional wrestling fans wanted to see.
Sting said he came close to joining World Wrestling Entertainment, but he is glad that things have turned out the way that they did.
Sting said that there was so many different reasons why he turned down the opportunity to join the company and that most of them are for the same reasons he has always had, which is that there is something deep down within him that never trusted what would happen with him in the WWE, based on their track record with former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) superstars.
Sting noted that he wont be watching this year’s WrestleMania pay-per-view, but he will take a keen interest and ask around for the result of the Triple H and The Undertaker match.

| Ah, so the likes of Booker T, Rey Mysterio, Big Show and Chris Jericho, among others, had little success in WWE then? | |

| To be fair, it took Booker FOREVER to reach to the top...after being a 5 time, 5 time, 5 time WCW world Champion.
Plus many of those guys when you hear them, you don't remember WCW. They were all breaking into the biz at that point slowly making names for themselves. Sting was already a Major playor.

| Big Show hardly, he came into WWE and received a major push, having held the World Title in WCW.
Jericho was pretty quick off the mark too, but he didn't have too much success in WCW admittedly.
Booker and Mysterio were both successful in their respective classes, and were still reasonably successful initially in WWE.
Mr McMahon buried WCW stars initially as a way to rub in the fact that WWE won the war. That was 10 years ago, and most of WWE's biggest stars came from WCW, some with large measures of success.

| Chris Jericho was an established star when he came into WWF at the time. Everyone knew who he was, when he debuted, which pretty much solidifes that he was a star, if not a top star in WCW. Though I can't say too much, never watched WCW. | |
