Willllllllllmmmmaaa! Animated 'Flinstones' Resurrected by Seth MacFarlane and Fox

Nikki Finke reports that a deal has been worked out that gives Seth Macfarlane the go-ahead on reboot of TV and film versions of animated classic The Flinstones that will air on Fox, but there’s no scheduled airdate yet. Perhaps there will be additional details at Fox’s upfront meeting that starts in less than an hour (4pm ET).

Update: Kevin Reilly did speak briefly at the upfront about this this, it will definitely be a series that airs on Fox, but won’t debut until 2013. The plan is to do updated stories, but stick with a similar look to the original, and use the original theme music. Here’s the press release from Fox.

Why are they mentioning this in 2011 and the shit won't debut for another TWO years?

Why rain on it's parade before it even aired?

I think it's been announced so that everyone is aware. ABC announced they are planning on working on a Charlie's angels back in 2009 and it's premiering in 2011.

I think now the writing process is going to start and the casting...and then the pilot is screened, excecutives might ask for changes, some recasting might take place and again the changes are made. Another screening and then it probably gets picked up and then they work on the first season (about 8 to 13 episodes) and if it gets picked up then they start working on it full full time.
