To the vets, that's considered a huge breach of etiquette. If you're new there, you introduce yourself. It's one of that old set of rules.

I'd love to talk to Booker T, just to hear all the crazy shit he'd say. If I was a wrestler he'd be the first person I ran up to. He reminds me of someone's drunk ass uncle, that always has a million stories. Are any of them true??? Hell you don't know, but you listen anyway.

Hulk Hogan agrees with you, referring to the traditions and unwritten rules as "that old barbaric wrestling mentality" that he declares he'll get rid of wherever he goes, like WCW and TNA.

Of course, looking at the locker rooms at WCW and now TNA devolving into chaos during Hogan's tenure suggests that maybe those unwritten rules and traditions aren't a bad thing, after all.

The "barbaric" punishments usually consist of things like having to buy beer for the person you offended. The greater the offense, the harsher the punishment. It can be doing something embarrasing at a house show (never a televised show), jobbing to the offended party, etc. If you do something really wrong, it's not going to be pleasant. Basically, it's the boys (or girls in the case of the Divas) trying to resolve issues among themselves before Management has to step in.

During the Ruthless Aggression years, it was Undertaker, Bradshaw, and Bob Holly in charge at SD, Trip at Raw, and the trio of Trish, Lita, and Molly with the Divas.

Note that Jeff Hardy was never too wasted to work his matches in WWE.

I've heard some stories of Benoit as well.

My thoughts:

On the one hand, I would introduce myself, be respectful and all of that. On the other hand, I've had people think that I was disrespecting them just because I was too shy to go up and talk to them.
