Madison Eagles Lands No. 1 Spot on PWI Female 50! FULL LIST NOW POSTED!

FINALLY Someone credible.

Expect to see Michelle, Madison Rayne, Angelina love, Mickie James, Tara and Eve Torres all to place well. And Mercedes Martinez as well.

I think the former winners were credible but I guess if they are not on the indies they don't deserve it...

But I'm happy for her.

I was a little surprised that Madison didn't win the # 1 spot being in TNA and having a very long title reign [longest KO title reign ever] during the grading period.

I would guess she would be # 2.

I can't even think of a WWE diva who deserves to be really high up on the list because from July/Aug 2010 - July/Aug 2011 no one really did a whole lot.

Champs were: McCool and Layla [each had each other as co at one point], Natalya, Eve, Brie, and now Kelly.

I don't think any had great reigns really either.

I will likely buy this but I want them to reveal the rest of the list soon.

pfft PWI seem to have a vendetta against Layla....her place in this list will verify that for sure

There is no doubt that Madison Eagles is one of the best wrestlers on the female circuit today. She can very effectively work any type of fighting style and she cuts awesome promos. During her first run in Shimmer with the Pink Ladies, I wasn't too impressed. While I could recognize her talent, I just wasn't blown away. However, when she returned in solo action as a heel, she really started to shine and catch everyone's attention. She is a natural heel that puts on incredible shows. Just wait until the Shimmer Volume 39 match where she and Del Rey take on Melissa and Hamada. That match is kick ass.

Okay, I'm happy for the day.

I'm pretty sure the magazine comes out in late October or November.

It is a great magazine but it better have her and other top women wrestlers on the cover.

Last year McCool was fucked over by Nexus.

I checked the PWI website and it looks like it'll be October before it comes out which means I won't be able to get it signed until next April, or whenever the next Shimmer taping it. But I also saw the cover, and there is just a small piece in the corner about the Female Top 50. So, I'll just have to get her autograph on the article page.

Mickie James will rank pretty high because she's Mickie F'n James.

Shimmer will place the most people. Hopefully, RoH will take notice of this, as well as the fact that the Knockouts have the highest rated TV segments on Impact, and give the Shimmer girls some exposure on their TV show.

That fucking sucks how they did that to the women AGAIN.

I liked the first Women PWI 50 mag cover because it had Kong, McCool, Velvet, Mickie and some others..

They need to actually give them the cover again.

It also sucks about you not being able to get it signed til next year but at least you still should be able to get it signed.

Overall, yes I think this is a decent top 15. Eve and Kelly Kelly shouldn't be this high on the list. With all of the success that Jessicka Havok has had over the last year in WSU and AIW, I think she should have been top 10.

And I think it is worth saying again.......YAY for Madison Eagles.

The top 15 is kinda Lacking Velvet Sky...who's career skyrocketed....but overall, not bad.

Why SURE Melissa, Beth and MsChif, AMAZING wrestlers, no doubt, but what have they done all this time to deserve their spot in the top 10?

Thoughts: How many times does Pro Wrestling Illustrated get to publish a questionable top ten before the list is meaningless? A lot of things are forgivable in these types of rankings; however, the #1 spot and Top 10 is the bulk of its credibility.

Questions such as…

Based on the July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 time frame of the list, Why was Beth Phoenix even in the Top 10?… She was barely used in the WWE during that time frame. Beth Phoenix returned from injury in November 2010 at Survivor Series. She then went on to team up with Natalya to face Lay-Cool at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. After that, she was on the back-burner.

If the decision came down to both of them, it should have been who has had a better Championship reign, in which Mercedes would have been ranked #1. Congratulations to Madison anyway—who is without doubt—an outstanding athlete.

Why was Cheerleader Melissa and MsChif in the Top 10?… once again, outstanding wrestlers… Cheerleader Melissa should be Knockouts Champion under her Alissa Flash gimmick; however, how these women shoot above others automatically each year is a mystery. Mickie James, Tara, Madison Rayne and Natalya on the other hand, all deserve their Top 10 spots.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated has a lot of merit in the wrestling industry. Since only a handful of women have made it on the PWI 500, a female list was a needed move for the publication. What the rank represents can not be praised enough. Certainly most of the females on the list will be honored that the made the rank

It's based on accomplishments NOT wrestling...which is why i'm still about MsChif, Beth Phoenix and Cheerleader Melissa.

Beth has been injured for like....forever, when she came back...had a mini run in with laycool and has dissapeared into darkness up until a month ago.

MsChif wrestles a select few shows outside of Shimmer, she doesn't do many other promotions.

Cheerleader Melissa, god bless her soul, hasn't won ONE major championship since the day she started wrestling.

She's one of the best...but come one.

Those 3 are probably the biggest on the list.

Oh and the lack of Alicia...wtf if they took WSU in consideration HOW do they leave out one of their main eventers of of the list completely??? like seriously? Tina San Antonio over multi main eventer Alicia?

Well, look at it this way...

Say, it had been Eve or one of the Bellas that won that battle royal. How much would people be talking about a Kelly vs Eve or a Bella sister feud, right now? How much TV time would it be getting? How much space would web sites be devoting to discussing it? How much Twitter activity would be going on? Would there have been a much talked about and debated article on WWE's own site?

Regardless, it doesn't matter. Beth only became active recently. She as basically a jobber since her return from her injury.

And the list wasn't made overnight. or from recently in any case.

The Divas Champion had to get in the Top 15, just for being the Divas Champion. If Beth didn't rank as high as she did, then Eve and the Divas Champion would had to have been placed even lower. There was no way they were going to rank them above Beth.

As has been pointed out, it's not just by how much they're being pushed that decides the rankings. If that had been the case, Kelly would have been in the top spot instead of Madison just because more people watch WWE than Shimmer.

Also, when they make the best of all time lists, Mae Young and Judy Grable always rank high, despite their lack of World Championships. Judy's career was mainly being Moolah's personal jobber. But, it's the quality of her work that keeps her high on the lists, even though she was usually losing the big matches.

But how much has Beth Wrestled? She was injured for a long period, she came back and wrestled little. So they are basing it on the few matches she had?

Same goes for MsChif.

And YES i would rank, Velvet Sky over Tara, I would rank Madison Rayne over Mickie James, because they had a more successfull run a more lucrative year tracing back exactly one year ago. NOT because they are better wrestlers.

I'm STILL iffy on Madison having the top spot, especially with Mercedes being more in the spotlight and constantly defending her championship. But Madison gets props for dethroning MsChif from a 700+ days reign.

But FACT is, tracing back a year, Beth Phoenix was out with an injury 60% of the year, FACT is at that point Gail Kim had a better year.

How can you be out for most of the year and STILL be ranked above every other woman in your company is mind blowing. The only person ranked above her is Natalya and she's above Mickie and Madison...which again...VERY laughable.

Beth is basically taking up a spot in the top 10 who would have served better for Angelina Love, Eve Torres, Velvet Sky, Kelly Kelly, Winter or Angel Orsini.

Beth and MsChif are basically two of the biggest mistakes on the list. Cheerleader Melissa gets points for being consistant...but perferably top 15 would have been better. MsChif does very little outside of SHIMMER and Beth was out for the most part of the year.

Aside from Alicia, another name i'm surprised is not even on the lower half. Mia Yim who has been one of the most talked about female wrestlers in a VERY long time on the indy scene. Her and Athena. The lack of those two names also makes this list more meh.

Regardless of how much Beth appeared, she was never pinned since her return (dunno if she even lost any tag matches). She competed in the first ever divas table match (and won).

I completely agree with this. MsChif was also out for quite a while with an injury. She was out for the first part, came back for the Shimmer tapings and was out again shortly after. I think Melissa is recognized simply because of her incredible matches. Even if she has no title, she continues to put on 5 Star matches every time she steps into the ring.

In my opinion, Mercede's WSU title reign is getting very stale. She has held that belt WAY WAY too long. That may have also played into it a little bit. She did travel to Japan for the first time this year, but unfortunately, came out with a loss. Madison has revived PWWA, wrestled in Japan and Chickara. I think either of them would be worthy as the top spot, I'm just glad they are 1 and 2.

I completely agree with this as well. From WSU, I think Jessicka Havok and Brittney Savage should be higher and Alicia (as much as I don't like her) should be on the list. Jessicka Havok has had a stellar year. She single has some AMAZING victories this year and I think is going to take the title from Mercedes in March. I hope so at least.

I think Athena would have been a great name to add to the list. Athena is going to have an amazing career as she get more experience. She is my favorite up and coming star. I also wish PWI would put out a Top 50 women in the world. There are a ton of women that deserve to be recognized in something like this: Jessie McKay from Australia; Saraya & Brittani Knight and Jenny Sjodin from Europe; Tomoka Nakagowa and Kana from Japan just to name a few.

I think the biggest name missing from this list is Hailey Hatred, which is probably because she has been focusing on Japan. She just won her 4th Japanese title which is unheard of for a non-Japanese female. Hopefully her return to the US that is coming up will get her in the list next year.
