Kelly Kelly vs Beth Phoenix for the WWE Divas Championship at Night of Champions

WOOOO!!.LOL THIS IS GREAT TEAM KELLY KELLY FTW!!!.SO MUCH FOR DIVAS OF DOOM LOL.

Vince is probably scratching his head wondering why the crowd was so hostile.

They've buried Beth & Nattie as much as they can, so what's Uncreative have in store next? They probably actually think Kelly vs Eve is going to get the crowds on their feet.

That's the thing, they hyped Beth & Nattie up as this dominant force, BUT they've done nothing but lose, since this formed this shamble of a team, the only person they've successfully beat up is Aj. I'm glad Kong's not there. I'm like offically done with wwe now.

Some here gripe about my fondness for the Golden Era of Divas, but I think we can judge the Division by who it's Big Four are.

2004: Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Victoria

2007: Mickie James, Melina, Beth Phoenix, Candice Michelle

2011: Kelly Kelly, Eve, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella

From a booking perspective, its probably smart to have Kelly retain. Why? Because having the heel win in the hometown and get the happy ending doesn't work.



Having Kelly win adds the much needed fuel to the fued, with hopefully more intensity and aggressiveness in coming weeks. If Beth won the title, what then?

But having Kelly constantly winning is killing the whole sale of Beth/Nattie being this deadly unstoppable force, this is the same thing that ruined Nexus, the commentators try to hype them up as gods, but then u see them in the ring and they're getting slapped around like a young Tina by Ike.

Them being these big scary divas is laughable at this point, because they're both getting thier asses kicked by one damn person.

All Kelly did in the match was roll ups.

Very surprised by the result. It has been really poor booking of Dod so far. If Kelly can beat them easily and they're obviously the strongest and most accomopiates divas then Kellys basically unbeatable . The match was OK not as good as their last PpV one. I liked the superplex spot.

Not to dredge up the Golden Era yet again, but...

The way they used to establish a dominant monster in the Division was to, oh, HAVE THEM BEAT THE HELL OUT OF EVERYBODY. Jazz, Victoria, and Trish won most of the time during their Monster Heel runs. That's what made beating them such a big friggin' deal.

That's how you establish a dominant monster. While I'm no fan of Mark Henry, I will say that if they booked that right. He's now a dominant monster with cred. Now, they just need to resist the temptation to put the title back on Orton, immediately. Make beating Henry a challenge.

But, getting anyone to take Beth seriously as a dominant monster? How can anyone possibly see her as a credible challenge to Kelly Cena and her 5 Moves of Doom?

After looking at the match, I think Kelly and Beth may have discovered a way to make those powerbombs into roll ups awesome. Instead of over the head, right over the shoulder. Looked clean, quick and believeable.

It happened so quick, i didn't see it coming.

I think everyone is overreacting about Kelly beating beth and Natayla.Kelly has only beat beth by using roll ups I dont see how that means being buried.She only been winning by luck the most untill she beats beth cleanly with her finisher then she didnt buried anyone.Im pretty sure this feud will continue and Please dont compare kelly to cena because there nothing alike.

this is what i was gonna say. there is no point in sayin Kelly beating Beth is discrediting the DOD or making them look weak...the only person they have lost to is Kelly...and Kelly has only ever beaten Beth via a roll-up so its not even a credible win.

ALSO this feud has only been going for a month...shes only had two title shots....its normally a third they win on anyway..

Im sorry but if it was anyone other then Kelly that was Divas champ. I would be a bit puzzeled as to why Beth didnt win on her first shot...as it would establish her as a bigger heel.

But its Kelly Kelly we are on about. Kelly has clearly been hand chosen to be the face of the devision...she has just been there for a while, but it was clearly a matter of time before she became the divas champ...and i honestly don't see the WWE allowing there golden girls first reign to last any shorter then 3 months. If I am honest i can see Kelly holding this title for at least 4-5 months. I dont see her losing the title til November or something around there

Beth is clearly going after the title again after this and if not her then Natalya is. Kelly wins with rollups to keep Beth looking strong. Trish beat Jazz and Victoria several times before they got the title off her. the division needs a long reigning champion to build the belt up. Kelly's made three successful title defences which is pretty much unheard of in the division since Mickie last had the belt. if the feud wasn't meant to continue she would have pinned Beth clean with the K2

There's a HUGE difference between winning cleanly in one on one matches (roll up pins are still winning cleanly) and retaining the title against a Monster Heel via DQ or in a Triple Threat or Fatal 4 Way setting. Jazz won most of her one on one matches with Trish (who's wins were few and far between), and NEVER lost either of her Championships in a straight one on one match. She lost the belt the first time in a tag match with both the Women's and Hardcore titles on the line (Not only not one on one, but where the rules involved her getting hit with various weapons). The second time were where multiple opponents were in the ring.

With Vic, yes Trish won the first two matches, but one was by DQ which, again, is not the same thing as winning two in a row cleanly. Like Jazz, Vic never lost the title cleanly one on one, losing the first time in a Triple Threat, the second in a Fatal 4 Way.

Then, there's how Trish's Monster Heel run started, pretty much writing the book on how to do it. It was at the end of Lita winning the Championship, finally getting the better of Trish after seven months of frustration, but with JR stressing that she practically had to kill herself to do it.

Going into it, Trish had been the vain bitchy type of heel. But now... No sitting in the ring looking beaten and sad. Kudos to the director and production team on this. Lita's celebrating her long sought and hard fought victory, but watch Trish. 1:26 to 1:39 foreshadows what's to come, when the camera zooms in, and Lita's victory music stops...

Lita's Cinderella story isn't going to have a happy ending. The clock is striking midnight, Trish is going to destroy her, and every other Diva in her path. And, she didn't have to say a word to establish that. A nice rule of storytelling: Show, not tell.

So, for your comparisons to past Monster Heel Divas to work, one of Kelly's wins would had to have been via DQ, and the other requiring complete viciousness and fighting dirty on her part. And, she couldn't win cleanly one on one twice in a row.

That wouldn't be very Zen of her.

Unless she's training Kelly and goes all Tae Quan Leap with it...

Here are my thoughts on Kelly Kelly retaining:

i understand why WWE has put the belt on her from a business perspective. She is extremely marketable. Blonde hair, tan, skinny, pretty smile.....everything WWE is looking for. I mean their creative department is probably perverted men trying to book stuff for a primarily straight male audience. Kelly is basically gold.

What I don't understand is why they are having Kelly win the way she is. She is beating Beth by roll up. If we are supposed to believe that Kelly deserves to be champion, why isn't she using her finisher. It's like we are supposed to believe that she is getting lucky every single time. I, for one, don't want a "lucky" champ, but one that can win solidly.

Kelly isn't winning using her finisher because they want to sell her as only beating Beth narrowly. Melina didn't beat Beth properly with a finisher until her last match on Raw. wins with roll ups are meant to keep the challenger looking strong. both times it happened with Beth going for a move and Kelly reversing to catch her off guard in kayfabe terms. they keep selling that Kelly is only just getting the job done by an inch. we got two great matches from Beth and Kelly at SummerSlam and Night of Champions and this means we'll get to see more
