Welcome to Diva Dirt’s This Week in History, where each week we’ll take a look back at some of the most memorable moments in women’s wrestling from years gone by.

*October 8th, 2001 | A week after debuting her persona as the Hurricane’s superhero sidekick, Molly Holly (now Mighty Molly) was already beginning her quest of vanquishing the WWE’s evil-doers. Disappointed with the recent conduct of Lita and the Hardy Boyz, Molly confronts her fellow Diva backstage and challenges her to a match. The “greater good” prevailed, and Molly celebrated her win by exiting the arena on the Molly-mobile.

*October 3rd, 2002 | One of the most infamous couples in WWE history had a fittingly inauspicious beginning when Dawn Marie met Torrie Wilson‘s father Al. In a romantic scene practically torn from the pages of a Jane Austen novel, Dawn gave Al a sneak peek of the bikini she would wear in her contest against Torrie. The rest, as they say, is history. Very strange and creepy history..

*October 3rd, 2008 | Having both Women’s and Divas Championships allowed for a few interesting possibilites in the Divas division, not the least of which were Champion vs. Champion matches. One of these matches occurred on an episode of Smackdown, when Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix took on Divas Champion Michelle McCool in a Lumberjill match. Beth was victorious, earning a few prestige points for the Women’s Championship. Though, we all know that the Divas Title got the last laugh, as the Women’s Title soon ended its existence while cut in two pieces.

*October 5th, 2010 | After a few weeks of competition, it came time for the first elimination of the all-Diva season of NXT. Jamie Keyes was the first Diva to get the boot, leaving us to wonder whether it was her lack of bull-riding skill or kissing talent that led to her downfall.

*October 7th, 2010 | After leaving the WWE, Mickie James soon found herself back in TNA, debuting just in time to serve as a special guest referee in a four-way Knockouts Title match at Bound for Glory. The announcement didn’t make for the most stunning debut–it wasn’t a big, surprise run-in–but it still set the standard for the dominating presence Mickie would soon have in the Knockout’s division.

Given who my favorites are, for me it would obviously be the Molly-Lita backstage segment and Mickie's TNA arrival. Don't know what it says about TNA that it felt like "WWE star arrives" rather than "TNA original returns." Alexis who?

Still amused that Mighty Molly was supposed to be a heel gimmick. She calls out Lita for cheating, then beats her cleanly. Yeah, that's so heelish... smile

Yeah I thought she was going to cheat but nope she got a great rolling clutch pin with the bridge reversal ftw.
